I booked Britz 4 months early expecting premium quality.
Instead, I received an ancient van. The interface was obsolete (no Android Auto/Apple CarPlay), and driving controls felt decades old—like a retro car from 20 years ago.
The staff’s excuse was a total scam: they claim "model year" is based on their acquisition date, not the actual manufacture date. They rudely argued that as long as it has "beds and a sink," there is no issue. If I only cared about the existence of a bed, I would have booked a budget brand. We pay for premium brands for "quality," not just the bare minimum.
Most upsettingly, other customers picking up vehicles at the same time received modern, new models. This blatant discrepancy makes me feel we were victims of racial discrimination.
This deceptive policy and poor treatment have completely ruined our trip. I returned to New Zealand for good memories, but I will never come back again. Avoid Britz if you expect honesty and quality.
