Very nice location, especially for a sunset at the beach (just cross the road) or if you want to hike to the pinnacles.
Just be mindful that only the track to the lookout is open and you cannot cross the stream to get to the walk when there is/has been heavy rain due to a risk of flash floods. There are two flush toilets that were clean enough. The ground is a bit uneven, so if it's busy it might be harder to find a flat spot.

Nice location in the park, close to several hikes and about 20 mins drive to the shuttle carpark for the tongariro crossing.
Toilets were clean and there was running water (non-potable).

This campsite is beautifully located with spacious lots.
It seemes to be a real hit for young families as well, which makes sense because of the facilities. There are flush toilets and hot showers (1 dollar per 4 minutes) and a large kitchen with gas stoves and multiple sinks with hot water for dishes. Just bring your own pots/pans, utensils and dishsoap etc. Main negatives were SO many flies, literally thousands of them. Though i suppose that is expected close to the water and on an overcast day. It was a bit gross that the surfaces in the bathroom and kitchen were all covered in dead bugs before it gets cleaned everyfay at 10am. Other than that, it was a great stay!

LOVED the hot showers (included in the stay) and the bathrooms were spotless.
The powered (60 dollars) and non-powered (50 dollars) sites are hidden from view, but next to the road. It's no problem at night since there is very little traffick, but if you want to chill for a bit during the day, that might be harder. The owner was lovely!
North Island ▷ Waikato ▷ Tokoroa ▷
Gorgeous location, although the gravel road to get there is very narrow.
The bathrooms were not very clean. People came down to the campsite with their jetskis as well, so that was fun to watch.

Beautiful location!
The beach is hidden by some sanddunes, but you can still fall asleep with the sound of waves :). The staff is very friendly and toilets were clean and didn't smell. The long and winding road to get there is quite worth it.
North Island ▷ Coromandel ▷ Whangamata ▷
Beautiful spot, but people camp out super early in the day (it seems everywhere in Coromandel) so it's very hard to find a legal spot if you actually want to do something during the day.
Enforcers come by pretty much every day here so be careful to park correctly.

Beautiful views!
There are not a lot of spaces for overnight parking, just behind the yellow line at the end of the lot. There are, however, multiple campervans parked outside of those spaces and it does not really seem to be an issue. We spoke to multiple people who said that they've never seen an enforcer. We left quite early the next morning, so cannot confirm if someone came by or not. Toilets are fine and there is a dump station.

The location is absolutely beautiful.
We stayed for two night late November on Thurday and Friday night, and it was already quite busy. The caretaker assured us that it would be no problem to find a space to park for the 2nd night after we did the night tour at the redwood forest. We came back at atound 22:30 and had to park at an illegal spot because everything else was taken. This seemed to be no problem however. The lake is very nice for swimming (not cold at all!), toilets were mwah. We used the one in our van.
