Clean, popular, and wekatastic!
If you don’t like the cheeky little buggers that are Weka, I’d avoid this spot, or at least be on the lookout for weka popping out from under your seat! There is non-potable water from a tap nearby and a long drop facility as well. The NZMCA has a private camp nearby, but the public is just as good. Gorgeous sunset and a good surf break if you are so inclined!

Short walk to the pub, a playground for the kids and a character of an owner.
Nice spot, clean facilities, and a neat little settlement. More than one or two nights you’d find yourself out of activities, but it’s still a kiwi classic.

Good little spot, 10 minute walk from town and has clean facilities.
Can get quite muddy in the wet so bring your gumboots! Weekdays there may be workers close by at the DoC base at about 7:30 but they aren’t rowdy :)

Fantastic camp!
A full kitchen with everything you’d need, fridges and freezers, toilets, clean showers, and a laundry, and plenty of space if you’re a self contained no power vehicle. If you want the morning sun on your tent in the winter, don’t park behind the trees, go further down the soccer field.

Beautiful campsite, alright facilities, clean water.
We spent the night here in winter, so it was just us, but I can imagine in the summer it’d be busy with families on the playground and in the great swimming hole! The pub across the road is incredible, a kiwi classic, and gives you a taste of true west coast life.

Good little spot, we had to stay here since whites bay was shut off during the floods.
Clean toilets, and a shower if needed.
