Sign says 4 vehicle allowed, tight but ok.
Toilets are ok (male toilets not so nice I was said), we felt the first time not so safe due to strange folks in this strange place. Loud and "fighting" young people on the streets and adult people roaring their cars...well we can only roll eyes..but there is a nice Park directly and beautiful roosters walking around in the morning, they are fun to watch.

Wow! One of the best places to stay, we got a tip to stay here by accident.
Beautiful, quiet area, lake to swim, Kiwis and other birds to hear (and see if you're lucky) so it can be a bit noisy at night but we loved it! Only thing is that toilets are closed and Dixies are there instead which urgently need to be emptied/ exchanged ;) showers also not available at the moment but still we recommend to go there!

Complicated booking System, a bit unfriendly staff (when paid they send you the enter Code and instructions per message, I kindly asked if they could send it per WhatsApp again, since I didnt receive the
message, the staff was not accomodating and didnt give us a welcomed feeling) and we needed to remind them of change. Much space and clean toilets, but honestly for 15 $ pP, we got much more luxury at other places (unfortunately not in the area, which is why we needed to stay here). Would not do it for that price again

Windy spot (guess beautiful) directly at the sea.
Several spaces for cars/vans, toilets are ok. No showers. When we arrived (Was very windy and late and we couldnt drive any further), the marked parking slots were already taken, around 10 vehicles nevertheless were also parking next to the allowed spots. A Person told us someone will come Controll in the morning but we were already gone before someone came.

Facilities are okay, Lots of space to Park, not spectacularly beautiful next to the Rugby field but for free and for 1 night absoluteley ok and calm since at the end of a road.
No showers.

Beautiful area, Lots of space to stand and direct access to the sandy beach.
Good and clean facilities. We could use our DOC card here. Very nice staff who helped us with our broken tyre, we are very thankful.

Amazing spot, directly by the bay where you can swim and see sunset.
Good showers and toilets, very friendly staff, calm at night and you can see Stars at night.

Good place to stay, a lot of benefits on this huge campground: kitchen, good showers, black/grey water dump station and much more!
Even a friendly cat, that came directly into our van :)

It was okay, completely on our own and a little unsure if we are allowed to stay there because there weren't signs.
We decided to stay and had a calm night. Unfortunately no toilet available but we were warned and used the public toilet down south of lake Taupo before. Absolutely ok for one night.

I don't know what's wrong with people who describe this place (and others) as scary etc.
It was a wonderful spot next to sheeps and very quiet, we had breakfast on the Table under the farns and also started the hike, which is starting right there, lucky us! Toilet also okay, so definitely recommend to stay there, if you aren't scared by the fact that Max 3 cars fit in the small car bay.

Totally fine for one night and perfect when doing the alpine crossing.
A crowded place but enough place for even more people. A bit loud because of the trains and not cozy at all but clean toilets.

We loved it!
Warmhearted, talkative host, clean and cozy building and shared rooms. We could do laundry there, cook in the tidy kitchen, pet the dog and sleep relatively quiet although near the street. For 18$ pP definitely worth the money! We would definitely come back, it made us feel home :)

This place is only recommended if you Plan to see the opening of the water dam (which is cool).
It's basic and toilet was ok. In the morning an official looking dude was loudly using his cellphone, it was definitely too early to disturb others with loud talking. And the street is very near and you hear big trucks at night.
