Skydive Auckland operates out of Parakai, a half hour or so from the city, and they jump from up to 18,000ft which is the highest tandem drop in New Zealand. The views up there are properly wild. Both coasts, Waiheke, Great Barrier, Ruapehu on a clear day. Reviewers consistently bring up how stunning it looks from up top, and how it catches them off guard.
The staff are clearly a big part of why people walk away happy. Calm, professional, and good at reading nervous energy. More than a few people mention their tandem master specifically, and how unhurried the whole thing felt. That matters when you're edging toward the door of a small plane at altitude.
The 75 seconds of freefall is the thing reviewers keep coming back to. One traveller described the sensation as "like driving your car over a small hill, that feeling times million." That about sums it up. After that it's a peaceful parachute ride down with the whole of North West Auckland spread out beneath you. Worth grabbing the video package if the budget allows.

Amazing service, flew in from Wellington, never been to Auckland before, staff was absolutely, especially the man who we paid for our tickets, lovely and kind, great attitude, highly recommend.

Highlight of my NZ trip, after being mucked around with the weather all over NZ, finally got to jump in Auckland and was well worth the wait.
My girlfriend & I were picked up at the SkyTower in their van, and took about half an hour to get there. The guys were all very professional, and managed to calm my girlfriends nerves - luckily they have a big plane that they use as there was no way she was going to jump out of anything too small or old. The climb to 16500 ft was not too stressful as we were checking out the scenery, awesome views all the way back to Auckland City and coast to coast. My tandem master Billy was a total superstar, gave us all the time we needed, we were never rushed and he made us feel totally at ease. If the credit card wasn't maxed out we both would have gone straight back up to jump again! We made a day of it & finished of with a swim at the Parakai hot-pools.

Awesome experience run by Awesome people!!! 16,500ft of pure Joy. So glad I've got the memories On disc to watch over and over :-) Checked it off my Bucket List and so glad i did!!!

After they putted us on our suit, we walked to the small airplane and we were off!
After a 15 minute flight and a lot of fun, we were at the point where we would jump out of the plane. With Mick, I was the third and last passenger who would jump out of the plane, we moved to the edge of the plane and I saw the earth far and far away beneath us. This was pretty scary but also really exciting.
There was no way back, Mick pushed me out of the plane and a weird feeling came over me. For the first 5 seconds I had a feeling which I never felt before, I can’t subscribe it. To say, it is like driving your car over a small hill, that feeling times million! It is chaos, you don’t realize what is happening and there are now thoughts.
After those 5 seconds the 75 seconds free fall remains, this is something I’ll never forget, factual, you’re falling down as a rock with the speed of 200 kilometers the hour, but that’s not what you feel and think, those 70 seconds you can’t believe what is happening and you actually feel that you are flying, that moment is the best moment I had in my life so far. The only thing I did was screaming, acting crazy and laughing.
After those crazy 75 seconds Mick opened the parachute and we slowed down, after that, the peaceful time starts. Still you can’t realize what the last 75 seconds happened, the only thing you feel is a soft breeze, peace love and happiness of a level I never felt so intense before.
After we landed on the ground I was shaking and still couldn’t believe that I just jumped out of a plane at 16.500 feet above the ground.
I can tell, skydiving is the best thing I ever did. I want to thanks Skydive Auckland for this wonderful experience which I recommend everyone to pass through!
