We were a group of 9 riders and used tread Routes for transportation and organising our timber trail.
Ted was extremely helpful, knowledgeable and provided an amazing service. Highly recommended if you’re planning a bike trip.

Did the Great Lakes cycle ways over 2 days. Ted has done all the trails himself so knows what he's talking about. Would definitely use this company again.

We booked our trip with Ted from TR after a long discussion on what trails would be suitable for our group.
Ted and Erin looked after us for 4 days of riding over a 7 day stay in Taupo. Nothing was a problem with these guys, great communication from start to finish. Given that we had 19 riders of varying levels of fitness and ability, Ted had it covered.Ted's knowledge and passion for the trails is nothing short of outstanding. Everything was taking into consideration including a covered trailer for our bikes and every bike had it's special place in the trailer. This also included the camping gear for the over night camp on the Timber trail (Highly recommend this option). These guys love their work and the care they take is outstanding. This is something that you can't fake!. I would highly recommend Ted and Erin for any MTB tours. Even to the point that we will be back to ride some more in the region. After all, to make 19 riders happy over 4 days is not easy to do but Ted Erin made it look easy.

Ted, Erin and crew did a great job for our group.
We were concerned with a big group, over 20, but it all went like clockwork. Service with a smile. Nothing was too much trouble and everything was done with a genuine desire to make our experience a memorable and trouble free one - and it was!
The information was accurate, we were given options, the equipment was great - and any hiccups with our bikes were handled in a jiffy.
A wonderful experience for us all - made possible by the wonderful Tread Routes team. We would highly recommend them for anyone serious about enjoying their mountain bike stay in New Zealand!!

Ted, Erin, Trev and the team at Tread Routes are exceptional at delivering a truly outstanding MTB experience on the stunning trails of Lake Taupo.
Our group of 19 was entertained by their knowledge of the trails and the way they organised/lead us each day as guides, hosts and ,most importantly by the end, as friends. Get on board, Tread Routes are outstanding.

We recently spent a week in beautiful Lake Taupo.
The purpose of the trip was to spend 4 days Mountain Bike Riding. We were fortunate enough to get hooked up with Ted, Erin and the team at Tread Routes.
They took all 19 riders, each with varying experience and skill and turned 4 days riding into such an enjoyable experience. We cycled around 158km's over 4 days and were guided by the Tread Routes team which enhanced the experience.
Highlights included the Timber Trail ride which included a night out camping in between 2 days riding and the Great Lake trails which highlighted the beauty of Lake Taupo.
If we are to do this gain, which is more than likely, we will be going back to the Tread Routes team to ensure our experience is what we are after.

A group of 8 of us "used to be fit" athletes completed the Timber Trail over 2 days with Ted as our guide.
Although our "sit bones" (we soon learned was the technical term) were a tad sore day 2, it was definitely worth it! Ted's organization of transport, accommodation, bike hire (the bikes were of a high quality) and guiding were top notch. Even when Harty's bike chain broke due to the power in his legs, Ted as a bike mechanic fixed it in record time. All our group loved the experience and we would definitely recommend Tread Routes. Cheers Ted and team!

A group of 8 of us did the two day Timber Trail ride with Ted from Tread Routes.
Ted's professionalism and organisational skills were second to none. The ride is fantastic and the scenery spectacular. Not all of the group were cyclists and some found it a bit more challenging than others but they all thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Ted provided lots of encouragement and scheduled lots of breaks so we could take in the scenery and the information boards. We stayed at Black Fern Lodge in The Forge which was great. Maria from Black Fern provided all the meals too which were fantastic. All round this trip was very memorable and a great way to spend some quality time with great friends. I'd do it all again in a heartbeat. Thanks Ted - you were awesome : )

My wife and I had a very positive experience with Tread Routes when we cycled the 2nd section of the Timber Trail.
The enclosed trailer held our bikes safely as we navigated a rather bumpy and dusty road getting to the start of the ride. Ted's knowledge helped us plan the day, allowing us to enjoy the experience and adventure. Read up on the trails - Ted can help you match a ride with your ability and requirements. Another one checked off the bucket list.

Ted from Tread Routes in Taupo took a group of us to do the Timber Trail.
The day was brilliant, the trails were excellent, the van and driving was great and we all had fun.
Would recommend this company and the Timber Trail.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Tread Routes.
Ted was punctual, polite, knowledgeable, flexible and very helpful. The bikes are transported in an enclosed trailer specially designed by Ted to protect the bikes from damage. Ted is a keen mountain biker and explorer and has fantastic first hand knowledge of all the tracks he shuttles to and from. We need more first class operators like Ted!
