It would be a 10 if they wouldn’t close half of the kitchen in the mornig! The sign said cleaning at 10am but then the started at 8:30 and closed it which lead to a crowded other half of the kitchen...

Everything else was just perfect! Clean, hot showers, kitchen, big spaces...
And you can just walk to the habour and the penguins... even saw penguins at the campground :)
But please be respectful, keep distance and don’t flashlight them!! Some stupid people do these things...

Harbour Tourist Park Oamaru responds:

Thank you for your review. One half of the kitchen had the floor stripped and polished, to do this effectivly and to let it dry between coats we had to close the kitchen. We apologise for any inconvience and lack of communication.
We are so close to everything best location.

Really nice place, very clean facilities. Very nice and free hot shower. Little penguins come the evening in the camping looking for a place to sleep :) Kitchen well equipped but just 2 place for cooking. Near the city (10 minutes by foot) and shops

Perfectly placed for seeing penguins and walking into town. Staff helpful, facilities clean although only 2 showers but plenty of hot water and free.

This one was a bit hard to rate. It's very expensive, but the facilities are great, terrific location and lovely staff. I guess I was a bit shocked by the price rise - $50 for two adults, plus $20 for two kids when I was expecting $35 plus 2x $7.50.

We are lucky to be so close to town, playground and the harbour so location is the best. having penguins onsite is also abit of a bonus.

The price is $25 per adult. Good location. The only bad thing was the camp site was very busy but only two shower there so you have to wait a bit to use it. The rest is nice.

Had a pitch right on harbour with small garden and concrete sofa. Penguins just across the road as they leave their chicks under the rowing boats. Amazing to watch them for 2 evenings about 10 ish hopping out of the sea to feed the chicks. The town is very interesting especially if you are into steampunk. Small kitchen. Not a pretty campsite but it’s position next to a super children’s playground and beautiful harbour compensates. Delicious ice cream on site!

$50 per night, for 2 adults on a powered pitch. We booked in advance with an i-Site and the campground reserved us a spot looking directly into the harbour. Porta-cabin style facilities, all clean and in working order. Only 2 female showers which is inadequate during busy periods. Close proximity to town and to the seal colony. Paid WiFi. Pricey but convenient, not worth it if you don’t get a harbour-side spot!

Harbour Tourist Park Oamaru responds:

Isnt it great that we are close to eveything. Even if you dont get a harbour site you are still right opposite the water so you can just walk across the road. We have a total of 5 showers onsite which is more than required for the number of people we accommodate over the busy period.
