Celebrating the pioneers on the Mt Cook region.
The Church of the Good Shepherd is a monument to the early pioneers. A quaint stone church that happens to look over one of the best views in New Zealand. It can get busy as a coach stop-over. Best at sunrise and sunset!

We walked from the first carpark to the Church.
It is a beautiful walk with stunning views. Be aware of the busses with plenty of tourists.

Beautiful landscape around the lake. Many busses with tourists around the Lake.

Beautiful view, nice music in the church, warm, wonderful flowers around the church.
Great that it is forbidden to take pictures inside!

Peaceful place, uncontaminated nature.

Enjoy the scenery.
You need not visit the church itself - exept you want to see the Chinese tourists coming in buses. But the Lake is really beautiful.

The surrounding area is beautiful, but the church is nothing to get excited about -- architecturally or historically.
