This place was fantastic! We ended up staying a second night as one night just wasn't enough. Quiet and peaceful (except for boats at the boat ramp during the day) and right on the lakes edge. Good swimming spot at the north end- especially for kids.
Grass parking, toilets could do with an upgrade but as we were self contained this didn't bother us.
It's out of the way and there's no cellphone reception, but we loved it!

Beautiful spot by the water. Very quiet spot, all we could hear was birds chirping. No one else was there when we stayed, plenty of parking. Flush toilets worked, but not much water pressure to fill the tanks or use the sink.

DOC campsite, freedom camping for self-contained vehicles only. Nice view of the lake, lots of space and toilets.

Fantastic mid week stay. Have been told it gets "Busy" on weekends. Flush toilets are "dated" but very well maintained. Waipa district council can be proud of this camping area. Although some of the users could be more respectful of the facilities. would certainly go again.

Can get busy at week-ends but during the week no one around. Excellent swimming, clean toilets plenty of space for camping before the toilets and past the toilets.
Found walnuts and chestnuts and there is a loquat tree when in season. Quiet and enjoyable place,
