We reserved a campervan before COVID hit and paid a deposit. When the borders closed Road Runner Rentals urged us to pay the remaining amount. They then cancelled our booking and refused to refund us. They then claimed that we forfeited our booking by not showing up, even though the borders were closed and they cancelled our booking. Finally they stopped replying to emails. Horrible company with abysmal customer service, avoid at all cost!

Very positive service experience. I had some trouble with a broken battery on the journey and the service offered by the service partner of Road Runner Rentals. This was afterwards handled and cleared in a very helpful and forthcoming way by the lady of Road Runner Rentals in Christchurch.

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour avec l'indefectible camping car. Il était bien adapté pour nos 4 500 km parcourus entre l'île du Nord et du Sud. Le Mercedes sprinter 2 Berth boîte automatique est un bon compromis entre confort et volume pour 2 personnes.
Service efficace, cordial et professionnel des équipes que ce soit pour la réservation, la prise en charge et la restitution du véhicule.

Very nice company ! We travelled with their campervan in november. Really appriciate our experience. Very welcoming staff and they helped us fixing one little thing we broke during our holiday in few minutes.
Not the cheapest but far more nicier than other big compagnies with camper in really bad conditions.
We surelly will travel with them again and again ! 👍

We had such an excellent experience with Road Runner Rentals. I researched for months and actually had a deposit on SpaceShips before we found Road Runners, I'm really happy that we decided to go with RRR. First, we actually missed the shuttle pickup at the airport so they sent us an Uber at no charge to bring us to the pickup site.. First impressions go a long way, and that was HUGE. Secondly, I recommend you take out their insurance. It was some of the cheapest that we found among all rental companies and your credit card insurance doesn't cover campervans anyhow, so you should really take out the insurance. Their pricing was really reasonable, and we actually picked up a stone chip that spread during our journey. It was handled really professionally and was a headache-free experience for us. The vans were quite new, we had 2 rentals, our first van had about 25,000kms and our second had 60,000. We heard the horror stories about Lucky, Jucy, etc all with high mileage.. Road runners were like new for us. Everything worked, although we tried to freedom camp as much as possible and found that the fridge doesn't run too well after a few days without plugging in to 240v. The solar helped a lot, but sometimes that third day it was 'cool', not 'cold', so just be sure to plug in to external power. Other than that, the vans were great, no mechanical issues, they were comfortable and they had everything we needed. Don't be afraid of the toilet, it's easy to clean, so be responsible out there in the freedom spots!

In November/ December we were for one month in New Zealand and had a Campervan from Road Runners. It was the first big trip with a Campervan. Friends told us from the Rental. Everything was perfect and without any problems. We loved the van, and we liked it, that it’s not such a big company. The people from Road Runners were super nice, they even drove us to the airport on the way back.
We definitely recommend them!
We would always rent again a van from them!

This is our second time renting , loved the smaller company. They were really easy to contact, returned mails within 24 hour,were overseas, gave us a discount for second time customers. Picked us up from our accommodation to the pick the van up from the yard. We had a flat battery so the fridge didn’t work. They got it fixed as soon as they could since we were miles away. No problems with paying the garage. Very understanding since we’re caught up in the C virus. Loved the smaller van only thing was as it was the tail end of the season we could have done with a warmer duvet but no big deal we just bought a lovely NZ wool blanket and took it home.
Lovely people just have to wait to see how the CV works out with refunds but that’s an unforeseen scenario for every rental,company. Lovely people. Definitely use again.
