Loved this tucked away little site.
Came November: arrived and couldn’t see a soul about! Found Ashley and he was very friendly and let us pick a spot. It was due to rain from the afternoon and all night so we wanted to do some cooking. The kitchen had everything we needed, space to sit and wash up. The toilets and showers are so basic that it’s class.
Loved the peace and quiet, the birds, the walk up over the hill to the sea. Proper little hidden rural basic campsite. Nothing fancy, but got everything you need. Wish we stayed longer but the weather was awful!
Be aware: the long winding gravel road down to site got muddy in the rain and we slid a few times in our hiace getting back up it. There’s no service either so be prepared to pay a few dollars for wifi or just enjoy the peace!!

A lovely spot in a sheltered valley.
The powered sites are very limited - 3 I think!! It's all a bit shabby, but then everything works. I just don't think it's worth the $30 pp per night for a powered site.
Beware that the local beach does not allow dogs due to ground nesting birds.
A huge issue is the very poor state of the accessed driveway, especially the two hills. I could not tow my tiny Basecamp caravan out with my 2WD car. There is way too much shingle and no compacted surface. Bumps and ruts from other vehicles would make it hard for any 2WD towing vehicle or motorhome to get out.
PS: there was no problem with the unsealed road to the campsite.

Awesome campground.
Beautifully maintained grounds, lots of space and different areas to choose a camping spot. 10 min walk to the beach. Stream running though campground. Friendly owner/manager. Facilities a little old but so worth it for the beautiful location. We absolutely loved it here and wished we could stay longer.

Wonderful and quiet spot with great people!
It’s clean and the kitchen is fully functional. A little brook is running through the campsite and to the beach it’s only a 10 minutes walk.

Lovely spot nestled away and you feel part of nature.
It is pretty remote and a 20-30minute drive to Raglan.
There is a beautiful beach a 10minute walk away, over some hills that provide a stunning view of the coastline.
Free hot showers and decent kitchen.

Such a beautiful campsite, Ange & Jeff have created an absolute paradise.
Well looked after, picturesque place at a practically empty, stunning west coast beach. No phone service, which is a blessing to get it away from it all. Will definitely be back <3

MUST STAY HERE- True kiwi camping gem - incredibly relaxed environment, friendly hosts that keep the facilities lovely and clean.
You are free to choose your camping spot with plenty of space. So many different areas giving everyone their own little slice of heaven next to the running stream. 100% we WILL be back! Remember your walking shoes as the stunning west coast beach is a 10-15mins walk over farm land. Shhh… I found cell phone reception on the last hill before the beach. But life without reception is so so relaxing!!! Thank you Ruapuke 🏕

Lovely setting, we managed to find a quiet and private spot next to the stream.
Great walk to the beach. Lots of different mown areas to choose from, surrounded by trees. Lots of birdsong. Very peaceful at this time of year (and with Auckland in lockdown). Dog friendly which is great.

This is our first time camping, and we are in our 50s—late bloomers!
This place is beautiful with a hike to the top of the mountain to see the sun set that will take your breath away. Keep going and you’ll find a black sand beach that is life-changingly beautiful. The camp is very pretty and has hook ups and facilities. Managers were terrific. Angie can sort anything out. We would return.

Lovely, welcoming camp with immaculately mowed lawns, great showers and nice little spots for camping.
A great respite after cycling all day. Friendly owner too! I paid $15 to pitch my tent in a shady area by a stream. This was one of the best campsites I stayed at during my trip.

Clean showers and toilets and kitchen area too. Great spot to park up with the back of the van open listening to the river flowing past. Owner is very nice too. No reception or wifi which is great to switch off :)

It is advertised as "wild and remote".
And so it is. Just a lovely place. No WiFi = relaxing. Friendly staff. A really beautiful 10-minute-walk across some hills and fences brings you to a lovely beach. The sunset alone is worth the 6 Km bumpy gravel road (To avoid 20 Km gravel road make sure to not take the road from Raglan). For me a little too many "don't do this or you'll be sent out"-notes but they must have had their experience with strange guest's behaviour. We'd stay there again.
