Battle Hill is a popular location with limited space, so make sure you book ahead. Fires can be lit on concrete fire pads outside fire bans, a very popular way to spent the evening. Enjoy!
Credit card and debit card payments can be made on site.

Took our caravan here - its pretty bumpy and lots of wee hilly bits, still managed to settle a nice spot. As the weather was cold and rainy lighting a fire was a huge bonus. Bit boggy in the cooler months. Did not enjoy the night time toilet experience- bit dark and scary- no light ! Great big walk - kids did not love it- walk through farm land , cow pats everywhere. Take gumboots. River w eels was a huge hit. All round, good little campsite for a short stay.
Really like this place, and u can have a fire. Average toilets, that are clean. I’d suggest parking close to the Bush line, hill as the other side is close to the road. It’s not that busy but still quieter. 8 bucks is nothing
Pretty standard campground. The site was a bit dirty with rugs, wood shavings, and beer cans on the concrete fire pads. Good toilets. Price was a bit much I thought.
8 NZD pp, No shower, think that’s a bit much. But the campsite was fine. A large area with fire places and a small river to cross. Nice little walk up battle hill.
Public toilets weren’t clean.
Good location on the river! The toilets were clean. There was drinking water filling station but no sink for washing dishes. There was no trash bins.
It was a really steep climb, but through lovely peaceful scenery. Informative displays full of history. The view at the top was very nice, but it was so windy! Sheep poo everywhere!
The forest in the beginning of the walk was nice and gave the feeling that you were really deep in the forest although it got ruined from the noise of the highway. A very nice view at the top and always nice to walk among the sheep but watch out for their poo that is everywhere!!
Lovely site! Bit of a difficult drive up but beautiful views on the way. No showers, but clean toilets with drinking water as well. It's fun seeing all the farm animals but as we came in early September most of the walking tracks were closed for lambing.
Overall very pretty and spacious.
