We stayed at this campground for one night in Jan.
Was a great little spot and super close to Bethells Beach which has lots to do and see. It’s a beautiful clearing and the view was gorgeous to wake to. We found it a bit hard to find. You have to walk past the big gate at the end of long road, and follow the 4WD track then take the first left and go down the hill then you still arrive at the clearing. Don’t keep going straight and head up long road track like we did! The park ranger was very helpful though!

First of all there is a toilet and BONUS it doesn't small (being a compost toilet and not a long drop).
The ground is nowhere near flat though and the wind tends to whip through (which I guess is what is going to happen when you are on a hill in the middle of the Waitakere's).
My 10 year old and I had the entire campground (and disc golf course) to ourselves! Liked the way you could see all the way into the valley it seemed somehow "safer" to be able to see anyone coming :)
