Welcome to South Brighton Holiday Park. Our family owned and operated holiday park is the closest seaside park to Christchurch providing the ideal base for you to explore the city and the surrounding area.
We offer private cabins and sheltered camping sites, surrounded by mature trees and hedging. We have both powered and non powered campsites, on grass or gravel. There is a communal kitchen and dining area, and coin operated laundry. Our showers are included in your nightly rate and have no timers. There is a dump station on site. We have free wi-fi available for guests.
The campsite is ideal for a family holiday with two playgrounds and a heated children’s pool (October to April).
The bus stop is a two minute walk from the site and buses go into the city every 30 minutes. The Christchurch Gondola, Sumner, the Port Hills and Bottle Lake Forest are all within a 15 minute drive. The nearest supermarket, pharmacy and restaurants are located in New Brighton, which is a five minute drive from the site.

Nice location 3 blocks from a great beach and 20 min from downtown Christchurch.
Staff friendly and helpful. The bathrooms and showers could use an update and a good cleaning. I love the free table where we left a lot of stuff as we were flying out the next day

Very nice, spacious holiday park.
Everyone has their assigned parking, clean toilet & showers and a nice big kitchen/cooking area. Plenty of outdoor space for playing games, hang washing or just chilll. Definitely one of the best campsites we’ve stayed at during our two week trip

This park is great and the owners are awesome.
The pool was being repainted ready for the Christmas holidays, the office has a few sundries ( like washing powder sachets, hut milk and various treats ) free showers, usual kitchen setup plus a free shelf. Our dog loved it here too, a beach on one side and an estuary on the other, very dog friendly area as well.

First place we headed to after picking up our campervan in Christchurch and it was a lovely spot just 2 blocks from the beach and right beside a walking trail along the estuary.
4 or 5 campers to a fairly small open space was a bit tight but it worked. Facilities were a bit dated but kept clean. Unlimited hot showers were great. Friendly and helpful staff. We took an Uber to Christchurch for a nice dinner otherwise the walk to New Brighton and to the pier was a nice stroll down the beach. Would stay again for sure.

Would 100% recommend staying here over some of the other places around Christchurch.
We stayed at another one and this one was such a beautiful small place, away from the city. Also not too expensive for being so close to the beach.

We came in May 2023, we weren’t planning on coming here but decided last minute and rang ahead, really lovely lady Nicky on reception booked us in , price was great compared to other places, we paid $68
for 4 adults in a camper van, laundry room good, showers nice and hot no timer, borrowed a hairdryer from reception, busy site but not noisy at all, we were doing the TranzAlpine train the next day so left our van on a spare plot overnight the next day and collected it the day after, paid a very small fee , Nicky was really helpful arranging all this ,

Nice enough spot for one night, clean enough facilities.
Still a bit of a drive into Christchurch but nicer than freedom camping in this area

Wasn't expecting much due to prior reviews but we were pleasantly surprised.
We paid $40 for the two of us on an unpowered site, which is perfectly reasonable considering the free showers (with mint water pressure), water, dump station and full kitchen (even had an oven :o )
Roughly 90 sites, was pretty full when we were there. The place is full of trees and bushes which means that it doesn't feel quite so much like you're staying at a Top 10 factory farm. The permanents do take up maybe 40% of the place but they seemed like a pretty jovial friendly bunch to us and weren't noisy in the evenings.
It's technically walking distance to the beach, but I wouldn't want to be carrying too much as its a fair way.
New Brighton as a whole was a bit rough around the edges, but the beach and pier were worth checking out

We came during a busy weekend and we’re crammed into a confined space next to the bins.
We had planned to stay 2 nights and took the van out in the day to see some sights, we came back to another van parked in our site. Staff were helpful but again we ended up shoved in corner. Nice location for long walks on Brighton beach.

We spent three nights at the campsite.
Our site was in the middle of a path so people passed through the middle all the time , with dogs and bikes. The second night a person entered the campsite and stole all the food from the refrigerators. Unfortunately our birthday cake was stolen and we had a very sad breakfast. The man is recorded on the security cameras but the campsite did not take responsibility. They did not return our money, nor our food, nor did we have any financial compensation.

Pretty basic facilities, really old, which is especially sad when you see toilets/shower.
I’ve asked for a dark spot, but got a super bright one, right under a light 😡
44 nzd for a powered site seems too much, considering all above.
Stuff is friendly tho.

Very friendly lady who let us in out of hours.
Seems there are quite a few permanent residents who are very friendly.
Facilities are clean and don’t have to pay extra for hot showers
Drinking water, waste disposal and free wifi also available
$36 for 2 people non powered site so one of the cheapest we have found around NZ
