Old buses but good condition, on time, lot of pick-up times to choose of, the bus drivers gave you a good introduction, made the trip safer.

Pickup was arranged at 3pm but the guys came earlier at 2pm, as weather was not that good and they wanted to see if someone had already finished earlier.

If you are planning a trip for the tongaririo crossing, remember to check beforehand what the weather is like before making a booking with ROAM.
Me and my partner took a trip to the National Park the night before we our planned crossing trip and did an online booking with ROAM, however due to unforeseen weather the shuttle service was cancelled by ROAM. Later on that day we received a friendly phone call telling us that our money would be reimbursed into our account, which was not done. We were on our last couple of days in New Zealand and did not checked our account until we got back home, and tried to email ROAM regarding the refunding process. Still has not heard back from them. Very unsatisfied that there is no body around to help us with this. Would definitely not use this shuttle company again for our next trip.

We did the crossing and the side tour to climb Mt Ngauruhoe.
Before we go we we're well informed by the crew about the track conditions and weather. Also safety measures we're noted. Doing the d-tour, we we're somewhat to late back to catch the last bus.. but a special van came to pick us up. The driver Dave, great guy, gave us on the way back to the doc a lot of information about the hole area.. extra guided tour for free! And at the end no extra costs for the after hour pick-up, great service. Thanks Roam team!

ROAM is the name of the shuttle bus that took us from the campsite in Whakapapa to the walk and from the end of the walk to the campsite.
Was good, we were with only 2 others in the bus.

Dave is by far the best Tongariro Crossing driver out there.
He was the only one who waits for the weather reports without cancelling. He will take you to the trailhead and let you decide on your own. I would totally recommend him over other drivers.

Suggestion: There is a holiday park (cannot remember the name) very near the trail head, where you can be picked up at a much later hour than the 6 am Taupo pick-up.
And don't bother to try to finish the tack too early because none of the buses leave until about 3:00 pm.
