Whangamata has got a beautiful beach but please, please, stay somewhere else other than this town.
Having looked at the reviews for this and the neighbouring Settlers Motor Camp, we chose this one as the heavens had opened, it was late, and we didn't fancy driving further. I wish we had.
Horrible, horrible, horrible - says it all.
The showers, toilets and kitchen were clean however and the power pitch was large. However, for some odd reason the camping pitches are at the back of the facilities which front onto the permanent holiday homes.

at $18pp for a van site, typical price for a holiday park, perhaps even cheap for the area, but we always feel its slightly overpriced, esp since showers are not included, they are 50cents for a short 5min. still, nice location on the beach, impeccably clean facilities, 50mb free wifi, outdated but cozy tv room. we had the place to ourselves in june, not sure if we got winter rates.
This camp is conveniently located between the town center and the beach. We found the bathrooms and showers clean. 50 cents for 6 mins for a shower. Probably only 20 sites are available for tent or caravans because the rest of the camp is full of pensioners/or weekenders perm trailers with add on structures with lemon trees growing in the "yard".
Best one so far. Great facilities, great location right at the sea.
