  • We ended our 3 week trip here and it was an absolutely perfect vacation at the end of our adventure.

We were able to walk to so many cool spots from the grounds. Powered sites were spacious and we had no trouble pulling intona shady area.

Hot showers were included and actually hot (eventually), and the large kitchen was a great spot to clean all of our gear before returning our rental. Plus they had a fridge and freezer you could store groceries in, saving us from buying ice for the chilly bin on our last night. The staff at check in and check out were delightful and helpful with local recommendations, and the beach along with the gap, blowhole and kitekite waterfalls trek we're some of our favourite finds. This was absolutely worth the price and probably our top campground to stay at in NZ.

  • Fiona is such a sweetheart!

She was the hightlight of my stay (along with the beautiful beach, of course)!

Beautiful spot near the beach and walkable distance from Kitekite Falls and Maungaroa tracks. A lot of cute ducks wandering around. Loved my stay there!

  • Loveliest lady checked us in, beep in and out with a card, pick whatever spot you want.

Very chill vibe, maybe 1/3-1/2 full in November. Beep into the bathrooms too, basic but very clean. Have to press the shower button loads to get hot water but it’s in the name of saving water they say!

Lots of birds walking around sight, great to stay for a night or two to see the beach, the waterfall and a beautiful sunset!

Be aware: if you’re driving down to piha and don’t already know, it’s a long winding road downhill and once you’re there you won’t want to leave again for day trips until you’re leaving the area for good! Was fine in a hiace not sure about an rv

  • Really nice campground, a few minute walk from the beach, with great amenities—hot showers, indoor kitchen area, sports fields.

Very family friendly and everyone was super respectful and quiet at night, and you have plenty of space in the wide-open grassy field. Beautiful sunsets in the evenings and great place to watch the surfers! You do have to pay Holiday Park prices but that comes with the amenities…

  • $22 pp, unpowered.

Very friendly, somewhat hippy host, warned us about beach danger and gave us lots of good local recommendations.

Fob system + paper guide required. This site is quite large.

Free showers, each with a bench.

Grass was not cut where we camped.

    Laundry and kitchen provided.

Only a short walk to beach for sunset!

    Fairly busy.

    Wifi provided.

  • Great little basic campsite near beach.

Cost us $93 for two nights not cheap . Bathrooms cleaned daily pretty simple to use showers. Campsites we’re good size spaces for your camper, tent etc. it was quiet and very close to beach. Waterfull is easy walk to get to.

  • Stayed here many times over the years, definitely pays to book in advance using online booking system.

Great place for families, definitely not a place to party or drink to excess.

Camp kitchen, Toilets and showers are cleaned regularly.

The staff are very friendly and welcoming.

  • My group paid for a booking for 6 people, after pitching one tent and parking two cars a camp employee asked us condense the space we were taking up, which seems unfair after paying over $600 for our booking

    .

The person working the front desk genuinely looks like they don’t want to be there & the interaction left me feeling uneasy.

Overall the Piha camp is not worth the cost & the staff are difficult to interact with (this is demonstrated by the replies to negative reviews)

  • I tried to book out 8 sites for my sons 21st birthday.

I got a call back from a male saying they do not want any parties held there as its family friendly so they cannot help. Never once was I asked age of people or even given the curtesy of saying that it is a family camp ground and lights out at 10pm. JUST A FYI there would have been 8 families with children between the age of 3 to 12. We camp all around NZ and know the rules. We have visited Piha 3 times before and told many people how wonderful the sites are...but we will never return and also never refer friends. Thanks for nothing Piha
