We usually go for free or low priced sites so this was an unusual stop for us.
What a good surprise - the site is beutifully landscaped. The showers and toilets are spotless and very high standard. The communal spaces have real character.
As I write, we are in the midst of a drought. We have been unable to find any potable water to fill our tank for a week north of Kerikeri. This site has its own bore and unlimited fresh water.
We felt the $44 we paid was money well spent.
Only small gripe is the dump station which has a bolted-down grill over the exit. That made for a rather nasty session of poking and hosing to make it all go away - hence the 9 rating rather than 10.
We could not have picked a better campground for our holliday in the Far North, the grounds are full of amazing plants and trees, it was like camping in a botanical garden. Right from the very start we were met by the awesome family that owned it, very friendly and welcoming (they should be teaching other campgrounds how it should be done). All the staff smiled and nothing was too much for anybody, the gardener even picked fresh bananas for our two children. Toilets (with bouncy music) were cleaner than ours at home, likewise, the kitchen and outdoor BBQs and all free including high pressure showers. They have a wee shop with essentials at normal retail prices and a massive selection of ice creams. What an amazing find. The only thing we didn't like was leaving Ahipara(dise) campground. Might be back at easter. Thank you so much guys.
Thoroughly enjoyed our time at this Holiday Park. Facilities were excellent, showers were hot and clean, bbq and outdoor area were a big plus, and the kids loved the playground. Owners were very friendly and hospitable and the price was very reasonable, considering all the amenities. Would certainly come back in the future
Owner complained that they were busy when we booked! She was also grumpy on arrival. Pretty setting with lots of trees segregating everyone but still cramped in. They have expended and not added more facilities so you had to queue for everything. Facilities are newish and clean but just not enough of them. Pay laundry in site, yet again you have to queue. Wifi was bad and kept on dropping out. On the plus side the 2 staff members that we met were really helpful.
Definitely the place to come if you like a cozy campground with a bit of privacy and plenty of plants and trees for shade! Whoever does the garden is very talented. Friendly hosts, clean facilities and a well equipped kitchen. Few people there when we arrived, so we got to pick a spot we liked after going through reception.
Just off 90 mile beach if you want to go for a drive, fishing, sand boarding... Beautiful area to stay in.
Amazing place! Campground and YHA in one. Everything was so clean and the facilities are excellent. Unlimited free hot showers with good pressure! Free unlimited internet and the large site also has ping pong and a volleyball court. Good cooking and bbq facilities. Staff are friendly. Paid $44 for 2 people for a powered site. Would definitely recommend.
A groovy campground in a surf town at the south end of Ninety Mile Beach. The facilities were clean and tidy, with an excellent lodge area for relaxing in. It doubles as a YHA, so there's beautiful murals everywhere - even the toilet block is decorated! The showers are free and unmetered. A short walk to the beach.
Great camp site! You can pick your own site, some have plenty of shade! Toilets and showers are very clean and tidy, they also play music :D The reception area has comfy sofas to chill on with sky tv and a fully equipped kitchen to use. Would highly recommend this camp site, it is great value for money and the staff are super friendly and helpful. 10/10
Thanks for the great stay Ahipara
The tidiest campground on our tour! Highly recommended! Nice decoration details makes it a special place.
Probably the best site in the Far North. Excellent facilities and private good sized pitches. 5 min walk to 90 Mile Beach
Great facilities and good location. Large site and quite busy despite early season however there was ample privacy for powered sites despite the many vehicles. Great proximity to 90 mile beach and to head for Cape Reinga. Pack’N Save close in Kaitaia.
Absolutely the best site we visited during our 4 week trip. Clean, well organized and the terrain is tended by a plant loving idiot. Never saw such wonderful and exceptional plants on a camp😍. At a very reasonable fee, with excellent WiFi. BBQ was perfect and clean. The only minus was the music in the facilities. Otherwise it would have gotten a 10 mark. But that is a question of taste.
Access savings worth hundreds of $$ on Top Ranked NZ Accommodation and Activities for just $1 per day.
Loved this place! Excellent facilities, toilet and shower block was exceptionally clean and had a hair dryer and music in the toilet block!
Brilliant sites available with cute little swing chairs and tree swings!
Kitchen had everything you’d need.
Was a luxury for us after staying at other campsites that were nowhere near on par.
Loved it here. Good size space for campervans. Amazing view over water. Super close to town. No pressure in showers but not a dealbreaker. All very clean. Good wifi
Best place to be. Great sites with a lot of hedges and trees. Small but equipped kitchen, awesome BBQ and outside area. Clean hot showers and toilets (music playing). Very friendly and helpful staff. Booked Cape Reinga tour and be picked up at the campground. Stayed for 3 nights with our motorhome. Deeply recommend this place and would come back again.
Great facilities, super hot showers included in price powered site $34 huge communal living room with open fire, big bbqs outside, laundry for $4
An Outstanding Holiday Park just a stones throw from 90 Mile Beach!!
From the Massive lounge room style reception, complete with Fireplace, Cable TV, Dining tables & Ping Pong! =) to the modern Bathrooms with seemingly endless hot water.. this place is the BEST
A friendly family run park with plenty of space to escape the rat race & plenty of opportunity to socialize with other travelers, not to mention Free WIFI to check back in with the world.
Really enjoyed my stay! was well worth the extra for a cabin with a kitchen although the communal outdoor BBQ's still received quite a workout ;-)
Highly recommended establishment! I'll certainly be back.
Best place to discover the 90 miles beach by bus as you will be picked up from here when booking with Sand Safaris. Awesome spot to make a morning run from here. Facilities are great with good music in the toilets.
Wow... to the finest detail this campsite was top!! Clean bathroom which even included music! Warm water, WiFi included. Every cent of the $20 for camping was worth it. Campsites have soft grass. Staff very friendly. Cleanliness 10/10. Full kitchen facilities & BBQ available. Thank you.
Beautiful camping ground. Rather expensive ($20 per person in camper van) but with great facilities! Nice clean toilets and hot showers, large and well equipped kitchen, huge common space indoors, bbq area outside with nice benches and tables. It is a 5min walk to the beach, gate is closed during night time.
We loved this place. It was clean..spacious...absolutely stunning. Close to the beach...beautiful music in the showers. It just felt right the moment we drove in. Will never forget this place.
Really nice relaxed feel to the place, very surfer village, good facilities. Nice to have radio in the showers! Hot unlimited showers. Great kitchen, few BBQs. Only problem was the WiFi was awful, just couldn’t keep connected unless hovered by reception.
Our favourite campsite, we stayed there 2 nights. Nice owners and big, cozy common room. Toilets and showers were newly remodelled and clean. Kitchen was a little crowded in the evening with many nice people, so you can get into a conversation easily. Campsite was of nice size and every site had it's table and was surrounded with bushed. Feld very welcome here and had a great time.
My husband and I spent 2 nights at Ahipara Holiday Park on a powered site, as we were travelling in a motorhome. We used Ahipara as the base for our day trip up to Cape Reinga ; this worked really well. The park was fabulous; the bathrooms were well maintained, clean and even had piped radio through speakers. They were also warm on the cool days! Although we did not use it, there was a nice kitchen and reception area where you could sit at beautiful wooden slab tables. The campsites were individualised so you felt in your own space. In all this park has been well thought of and designed. There is added security with the gates closing at 10pm. The beach was a 5 minute walk and we were lucky to have a great sunny day to see many of the locals out enjoying the spring sunshine. Best so far in NZ.
We stayed here 1 night. Excellent unpowered campsite, surrounded by some bushes. Nice sitting areas, close to the reception and outside. Many backpackers who stay there and work in a farm nearby. Place had a nice vibe. Kitchen was okay, but small.
Beautiful campsite! Free hot showers, free wifi and very nice and helpful staff. Kitchen could use some new pots and pans though. If we ever come back to NZ we would definitely stay here again!
Great facilities, nice campground.
Another good Kiwi Holiday park, even though its only one of two good Kiwi holiday parks we've been at during our 4 month NZ trip. Cute campground with lots of space. Good kitchen facilities, even though kitchen is quite small. A few work and holiday backpackers around. The best showers we had in NZ, good water pressure, unlimited hot showers and very clean. Would stay here again. A 4 minute walk to 90 Mile Beach.
Brilliant campsite with amazing views over the land. Top campsite. Great facilities, super hot showers, good kitchen and strong wifi throughout the site. Would recommend this site to anyone as it's well worth its money.
Excellent kitchen and cooking facilities, plenty of communal cookware,
Free showers, a well kept and clean park in garden setting, well set out and only 10 min walk to 90 Mile Beach.
Hard to fault this one.
We booked a luxury cabin for $95. It is a great cabin, worth the money! The park looks new and is very tidy. Cooking facilities are great and 90 Mile Beach is just around the corner (walking distance). At first we wanted to stay for one night but we booked a second night.
Excellent facilities in a garden setting. Free Wifi and spotless ablutions.
The best campsite that we have been on our trip! It was fantastic, we stayed longer than we actually wanted to. Sand boarding and beach is nearby.
We paid $21 each for a powered campsite, $1 more than unpowered, the kitchen is clean as well as toilets and showers, the best ones than we saw until now btw.
Unlimited Free Wifi on the whole campground, you get codes when you ask the staff.
The owner is a great and friendly person and the staff is nice too. We had a gorgeous time.
We highly recommend you to come here even if you may have to drive a little further to get to this one, it's worth every single dollar
Lovely location, close to the beach. Clean facilities, kitchen, tv lounge, wifi (but you have to be close to the office to access it). A lovely camping spot.
Our first score of 10 after a month touring the North Island. I can't fault this site, $38 for a powered site for 2, free showers plus 500 MB of wifi each included. The pitches are large, ours had a picnic bench and shrubs between the other pitch, the toilets and showers are modern and clean the kitchen and common areas are also clean, and well designed, I could go on. Highly recommend well worth a visit, oh and a 10 minute walk to 90 Mile Beach.
Busy campsite, gives a good atmosphere. Big kitchen with plenty tools! Can get busy. Same with showers but they are hot and powerful. Nice social area. 2 person non-powered site for $36. Short walk to 90 Mile Beach.
Their cheapest price is $18 per person per night (tent/van). Good camping place, showers and toilet clean. The kitchen is not too good, small and gets too crowdy and has very old cooking pans. Nice sitting area. Make sure not to get there late! Reception closed at 8:30pm.
Great clean facilities, seemed expensive to have to pay $4 for laundry on top of the campervan fee. Large communal lodge with big fireplace, many campers of all age ranges in October. Giving an 8 for lack of a view. Beach is a walk and/or short drive away.
Great holiday park! Clean and good facilities with hot water, big kitchen, nice common area, close to the beach, nice staff.. and so on.
Very good common room area with log fire, good amenities, great hot showers and friendly staff.
This would have to be one of the best caravan parks we have stayed in. Nice sites surrounded by gardens, the amenities are modern and spotlessly clean. The communal area is large and with a log fire at night is very cosy and welcoming. Secure with locked gates overnight. Free wifi, free hot showers. Very good value at $34.50 for 2 on a powered site with the Rankers discount voucher.
A bit of a walk (10 mins?) to 90 mile beach.
Great place!!! This camping ground should be part of "top 10"..... but then it would not be as affordable. ... big trees in some areas. Locked gate at night. Very clean and tidy toilets/hot showers. Nice "rustic feel", fully equipped kitchen and XL communal lounge/dining area including wood fire, TV and computers.....FREE and OK speed WiFi. Close by is a great fish and chips/small dairy. Although the dryer was taking far too long I would return tomorrow for a much longer stay. Absolutely loved it.
Very clean showers and toilets, kitchen and super lounge. Thanks for the pre booking discount Sandy!! Very helpful staff. Stayed April 17th and would stay again. Would rate a 10 except for the terrible radio station running in the toilets. There are "older" people who sit in there!!
We spent a bit more than we normally would here: $42 for 2 people in camper van with electricity, but it was absolutely worth it. Everything we needed was there. Great communal area and kitchen, laundry, free very good hot showers and free wifi. Staff were always friendly and helpful and everything was constantly cleaned. You didn't have to leave by 10am and they didn't close everything to clean at inconvenient times. The places for vans are thoughtfully laid out with space and shrubbery around for privacy. It was just great, they care about standards here and run things around you, not the other way around as seems too often to be the case! As you can see we loved it.
A compact property with smaller tent/camper van sites but quite clean. Friendly and helpful staff. Cabins are well maintained - we did not use the kitchen and showers here. Covered BBQs and open picnic tables. Large covered common area for reading and visiting. The 90 Mile Beach bus tour picks up from here.
Good place to stay, 5 min to the Start of Ninety Mile beach. Good and clean up to date facilities, new large extension for tents and campervan
Powered site for a campervan. Hot clean showers. Lovely campsite right at the end of 90 Mile Beach (5minute walk).
A very good holiday park. Everything excellently clean and tidy and all facilities you wish to have, including a nice barbecue area, hot showers and free WiFi.
Be aware that it is not directly at the beach, it takes a short walk there, but no problem.
Very well organised, staff very helpful, great common room, good kitchen facilities, great showers, nice fish and chip shop close by and really easy access to 90 Mile Beach.
Good location for campervans, friendly welcome and support at reception. Very clean toilets and showers (warm water) and good service facilities. Even in the early morning you are accompanied with happy music in the toilet/shower rooms; very amusing at 3.50am!
Recommended for campervans!
It is nice and clean! Showers are unlimited hot water for no extra charge... ad laundry access which was cheaper than in a launderette! There is a common room with a table tennis table and sofas. Nice atmosphere. Would highly recommend and would stay again (actually we did 2 nights instead of 1).
Good service with a well stocked shop. Nice environment, clean toilets and showers.
Even though it was a busy time of the year, the park did not feel crowded. The showers were new and clean with much more room than average and a shower head that goose necked up high so that I could fit under the shower head.
The common room had a ping pong table and lots of room to relax. The kitchen was busy but we could always get in to prepare meals.
The only two things that I would improve is another microwave or two in the kitchen and a seat in each of the shower stalls.
A campsite with a very young and surfy atmosphere. Kitchen a little old but well equipped. Showers are a little cold and worn. The common room is large, but cozy despite cold fireplace. Wifi is free but does not work very well.
Campground is overrated. Old toilets and showers. They look a little bit shabby. Kitchen is well equipped. Price per person is $21, So quite expensive for what you get. We stayed at a top notch campground for less. Free internet is limited to 100mb p.p. A 10 minute walk to beach.
Ahipara Holiday Park – Well stocked kitchen, good clean showers and toilets and a large lounge area to spend time. You can easily walk to 90 Mile beach and stroll down the sand. The free WiFi here simply did not work both times we stayed. They must know it is a terrible service, but are very vague on correcting the issue.
Was a nice location with an amazing campground.
Very helpful and friendly, nice sites with trees around, everything clean, landline to use.
Great Place with tree
10 min walk to the beach
Good Place to do horse ridining, quad etc.
Good facilities (clean & free)
Nice & Clean kitchen
Many birds around
38$ for two People / powered site
Nice camp, lovely trees
Totally chilled out, mellow campsite. Made me feel like a backpacker again! Very friendly & helpful staff. Lovely site. Facilities clean. Lovely communal space for relaxing & having a beer or bbq outside.
Perfectly nice campground, clean facilities, friendly management and lots of plants and trees around that give some privacy to the otherwise small sites (we had a campervan site). Because it is the only place around, it can get quite busy - even off season. But nevertheless we had a quiet night. Recommended.
I stayed in a self contained unit for two days while up in the Far North for 2 days work. I had a great stay and it was very tidy, clean and comfortable. Really nice with it being well off the road (quiet and secure). Many thanks to the fantatsic owner/s who were always very helpful, even with someone who didn't know to plug the aerial into the tv (Many thanks Sandy). Many thanks for a great stay. I will be back. Cheers, Chris
Great location, facilities are not in the best condition - but they are clean. Nice trees and gardens - not the best playground we have seen. Lady was friendly enough when we checked in.
Relaxing place, comfortable living room, good showers and cool people.
Very nice place, seperate sites, many plants.
Fleur & Nils
Nice and quiet campground with lovely terraces and very affordable.
Chris & Susanna
Close to the beach.
Pretty, nice BBQ and very good communal space.
Basic facilities but the wow factor of this site is being right on the beach - so close you can watch people surfing from your camper - great views and friendly owners.
Refreshingly well laid out for both campervans and tented campers. Beautifully maintained. WiFi worked. Nicely wooded sites.
Very nice camp with plenty of trees and grass. Good facilities and friendly staff to help.
Nicely laid out with lots of plants, nice hosts.
Clean and nice campground.
Great place, cool ambience and well laid out campground. We got a nice sheltered spot.
Well set up kitchen, lounge area with internet and wifi.
