Everything from start to finish with Graham and Susan went so smoothly. This was our first time renting a camper so had lots of questions before we even put down a deposit ! As a 6ft 5 inch man, Susan provided additional photos to alleviate any concerns and we ended up going for the hi top hi ace which had loads of room for our stuff on our honeymoon for 3 wk trip of South Island .
Graham was waiting on arrival at the airport and took us the short 5mins to their place . I expected the next step before we got on the road would take a few hours! Susan quickly went through paperwork and provided us with some basic condiments left over from previous rentals while Graham showed us van and had handy pocket guide which we referred back to if we had any additional concerns . He also gave recommendations for trip regarding weather to get most out of our trip. The hardest thing was driving out of their yard away from their two beautiful brown Pedigree border collies Jaffa and Kailia!
Once we got the road we mainly stayed in powered camping sites for convenience of showers and proper toilets ! We did Freedom camp a number of nights and the fridge stayed on all night with lights and chargers too ! We cooked on gas most nights and it was still 3/4 full when we tried to refill it on return !
We never had any problem with the van on our trip and felt it was economical on petrol for the roads and distances we travelled ! It was only a few years old and in wonderful condition with ingenious space saving shelving and storage . I would highly recommend the hi top version even for two people if you have a lot of stuff like us . This allowed us to store extra clothing above the driver and passenger heads . It did feel a bit bigger on road with winds but I don’t think any tourist will be speeding on the roads.
All in all this was excellent service and felt great to be supporting a local Kiwi small family run business and would highly recommend it !

We are very happy having booked the deluxe 2+2 camper for our family with two little kids. The van was very well equipped with all the stuff we needed without having to pay extra for booster seats, tables and chairs, .... Price quality wise Campa South is the way to go. We drove the van for 4 weeks and really liked the fact that it isn’t covered with advertising so you don’t look like a tourist . Susan and Graham were the perfect hosts, very lovely people!

Camps South Rental were excellent, ensuring we had a wonderful stay in NZ. Very professional, friendly and supplied us with extra tips and information to help with our planning. Thanks guys!
We rented a sleepervan from Campa south. Graham and Susan were responsive and available to help. They did their best accommodating our requests. We picked the car on time with no issues. The car was old but was really clean and working well. The thing to note though if you are picking up the from Auckland, their depot is 45min south of Auckland so make sure you see Auckland ( if that was on your list ) before picking up the car, unless you dont mind driving back 45min.
We picked up and returned the van from the Auckland depot, which is outside the city. This wasn't a problem though as Kurt picked us up from the station without any problems, and the van was ready to go straightaway. Both the pick-up and drop-off were stress-free, which is great as you can concentrate on enjoying your holiday. The van was great because it's fitted out with all the things you might need to enjoy the campsites around the country, with no extra costs for picnic tables or chairs for instance. And as the van wasn't plastered with advertising, you don't feel like a driving advert. Overall a really good experience, and very glad we went with Campa South!
Renting from Graham and Susan at Campa South was easy. Graham picked us up from the airport and Susan dropped us off. In between they provided clear and invaluable information about the van and our trip. The van itself was well equipped and handled the “different roads” of New Zealand easily. We had a great two weeks (Camper Mate was an invaluable app also) and would highly recommend renting from Campa South and believe they gave us the service and attention we may not have received from a larger company.

Good van, had everything we needed, there were no hidden costs, no stress on checkout or return. That's pretty much what you hope for when renting something for a vacation. I generally read reviews to see if there's a reason to avoid a company or not. Given our entire experience I recommend renting a camper van from Campa South. The van was in excellent condition, well stocked, well maintained, the cost was as advertised, and finally the administrative process was painless and friendly. Susan does the paperwork and Graham deals with the van. Both were very personable and easy to deal with. We dropped off the van in Auckland and Kurt was also very nice. I could have spent an afternoon chatting if I'd have met them in another context. Graham gave us wellcome advice for what I'd call "van management" even though I'd just been driving another van in Australia for 6 weeks. In Australia we didn't get that level of advice, for example, in AU I had to call and ask the height of the van for entering parking garages. Graham's parking rule-of-thumb "don't park where you're not in the sun". Given the height of a high roof van, and damage a tree branch can do, his advice was simple and effective. Same thing goes for his advice to have a spotter help you back up because you can't see all dangers with the back-up camera. We used his advice and everything was fine. The van was well stocked. In 5 weeks we never needed to plug in at night. We never ran out of propane. We did have to manage our water because washing dishes uses a lot of water. I'd suggest washing up on the holiday camp sink when possible. The fridge was big and cold (running only off solar!!!), We shuffled storage around and put everything where we wanted it. ...I just realized that this space is limited so no more van living advice. In summary, we recommend Campa South for a painless rental. That's all you want in a rental company.

arrived in Auckland mid November and collected from the airport by Kurt, good guy friendly and informative, the van was all ready and without any fuss soon on our way, too exited to care about the bad weather.
Susan had managed to source me a vehicle after struggling initially, all the details plus links was then emailed, presenting all the information required, thanks.
The van itself was faultless throughout the trip, being our first experience, surprising how quickly you adapt! Whilst travelling through Christchurch we contacted Graham who offered to give the van a once over while we we there, so called in to see him
again very pleasant gent to deal with, who with his mechanic checked us over before removing the grey waste and refilling fresh water, so soon on our way
We would like to thank the team for helping us have an experience of a lifetime, many ,many thanks
