We were very happy with our Go Rentals car, the booking from Australia was easy and the pickup was efficient with car ready and waiting for us. The drop off was easy also ,with an early flight the car was easily left at the airport on our departure. The staff were friendly. I would use this company next visit to NZ

My wife and I booked a car with GO Rentals on our most recent trip to Christchurch, the whole experience was hassle free and the service we received was wicked at every step!

The free shuttle transfer from the airport to the branch was awesome, we were picked up within minutes of calling and if that wasn't enough, the shuttle driver gave us some great info on the go play discount card that we get free with our hire.

The car was in great condition, basically brand new and picking up and dropping off was super easy as we had completed online checkin.

I would highly recommend hiring with GO if your looking for top class service and cars!

I already filled up full tank 5 mins before returning car at Queenstown airport. However, they charged my credit card in additional for the fuel and advised me the tank was not full. There was no staff advised me about this charge when I return the car and they claimed there was no staff to check which was not true.
They can charge customer whatever they want as customer has to sign the agreement when they took the car. Also, this kind of credit card charging happened when customers return to their home country.

Beware when hiring a car and having to use the before/after hours service.
1. The shuttle service for outside hours service can run very late. We nearly missed our flight due to having to wait for 45 mins for the shuttle. Even when the shuttle came, they didn't prioritise us that had waited for 45 mins but a pilot that came late. At first they only want to carry the pilot and not us. Having the hotel to do the shuttle service might have something to do with the priority.
2. Always take a photo with your kms and fuel gauge when returning the car. We were charged $51.31 for fuel top-up even though we have refuelled the car until full tank before returning the car to the after hours drop off location. $25 for admin fee and $26.31 for fuel. That is about 14-15 litres! I can understand if there is 1-2 litres top-up, but that much is just doesn't make sense to me. I have the fuel receipt proof, but they only promised to return the $25 admin fee (which I still haven't received). I suspected that there might be some admin issue and they charged us for the wrong car, but they still insisted I am responsible for the fuel top-up. The other possibilities were that the car was used by the hotel staffs or their own staffs but charged me for it, or there is something wrong with petrol station that we used..

Update: Susan from GoRentals confirmed that the car we hired had some design issues, where it can still be refuelled at least another 10 litres even the fuel nozzle has clicked off. Due to the poor shuttle service and as a gesture of goodwill, she gave me a full refund for the extra charges. Susan explained and handled the problem very professionally.

Vincent, thanks for providing the full correspondence between yourself and the branch and on viewing the email and also communicating directly with the branch, it has been established that the vehicle genuinely did require extra fuel although it is clear you did refill close to the drop off point.

I’m not at all happy with the service you received from the Sudima shuttle and this is why I have authorised a refund of the $26.31 for the fuel as a gesture of goodwill, which will be processed in the coming days.

We rented a car from the Christchurch branch for two weeks in November 2016. 4 days into the rental period, while driving from Queenstown to Glenorchy, our rental car's power steering and brakes FAILED while going downhill.

We applied the handbrake immediately and the car skidded to a stop quite a distance down, and halfway into the opposite lane (since the steering didn't work). If there was oncoming traffic, or if the road was pointing towards the cliff, it would have been a disaster.

AA towed us back to the Queenstown branch.

After a near death experience, one would think it is reasonable to be given a replacement car that is in a better & newer condition, but the service staff at the branch informed us that any upgrades would incur additional cost for us. Seriously, I chose that category (in fact only 2 years old) not expecting that it is a beat up car that is not properly serviced, and that could have cost our lives!

It was only after we strongly suggested that he make a call to the management to check, that he reluctantly and unhappily released a newer car for us. Being in the service line, I would imagine that that should have been his first course of action, to quickly escalate to the management! Terribly disappointed that Go Rentals never sent an apology or even acknowledged with a reply to our email feedback.

Thanks for coming to us with your feedback on your recent hire and I can see clearly our communication has been poor. You returned the car out of hours on the final day hence not having the opportunity to discuss the details since the incident. Ideally we should have contacted you as soon as we received the report from the mechanic after the vehicle had been assessed which I must sincerely apologise.

The vehicle report confirmed there to be no issues with either the steering or the brakes and there have been no issues reported since. The maintenance history also confirmed the vehicle has been well maintained with any maintenance completed when due. Minor scratches on the day you collected were recorded on the vehicle check sheet presented to you. I’m sorry you felt we were not understanding of your situation and I agree our communication could have been better and pleased be assured I have addressed this with our Queenstown branch manager.

Hired 2 corollas over the space of a month. First was booked in Australia, the other booked late notice at the end of our NZ trip. Booking process very easy, cars in very good condition, after hours pick up and drop off process very smooth. Great price, will definitely use them again next time we're in NZ.

The rented car in Christchurch had a reasonable price, was very good, clean, safe and intact. The handover-procedure was very organized including the pickup and transfer from the airport. The people from GO Rentals in Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland are very friendly and courteous. But it was not the end of my very good experiences with Go Rentals, after I was affected by the earthquake in Kaikoura I gathered the next positive experiences with James, the managing director of Go Rentals. I was personal affected from the earthquake in Kaikoura and tried to stay as long as possible there in hope to get out with my hired car. But the damages at the Hwy one in both directions as well as the inlandsroad were to extrem. Thus I had to leave Kaikoura like almost all inhabitants and visitors. I was evacuated by the army as one of the last. James and his team very well organized a new car for free after I arrived Wellington and gave me a bigger car than I originally rented! This car was also clean, new, and very efficient regarding the petrol consumption. I was very lucky to continue my holidays in this manner. At The 5th of December, my wonderful journey through New Zealand ends in Auckland. Not to mention HOW friendly and polite all the Kiwis are! To highlight also the very selfless help of the Maori in Kaikoura despite also self-affected by the earthquake. I had NO issues in the procedures to give the car back!!! In Auckland also everything went very well, no questions, very fast and straightforward. Thank you also this entire team! HIGHLY RECOMMENDABLE COMPANY!!! VERY ENGAGED AND QUALIFIED PEOPLE WHICH DO THE VERY BEST FOR THE CUSTOMERS, ESPECIALLY IN EXTREM SITUATIONS LIKE IN MY CASE WITH THE EARTHQUAKE!!! Thank you again!!!

We arrived at Auckland airport in the early hours of the morning ,we used the phone at the airport to ring Gorental & they picked us up from the terminal with their bus.filiing out the paperwork was easy & to our surprise the car was brand new,a lovely Toyota Corolla Hatch a most comfortable car .We had booked the car from Australia ,The location of Gorental makes it easy to return the car ,overall it was a good experience .We could hilly recommend them Ilse Arndt

We booked basically a "Cheapie" for a weekend away in Auckland. To our surprise we got a really good tidy car - thought we would have got a roughy.
Anyhow found them online originally searching for a good deal - the booking process was simple and seamless.
Follow up info and confirm emails great.
Arrived Akld Domestic - rang the number - picked up by great bloke shuttle driver within 5 mins
Check in and collection at office was a breeze and we were off.
Same simple process when we returned & dropped car off - quickly dropped back to airport

Will certainly be using Go Rentals again

We just ended our 18days trips in NZ. The Estima that we rented despite its high milleage, it still carry the 6 of us round the island with no issues. The collection of the car indeed takes abit longer but is worth to ensure everything is check. This the first time ever needed to go through video training for renting car to understand the roads in NZ as compare to all my previous experiences in Australia and USA.

Overall, Go Rental has make our trip here in NZ wonderful especially on the help on Interislander Bookings.

Hopefully we will visit NZ soon to have another round trip in NZ with GO Rental. Cheers for the wonderful service.

We had an amazing experience in NZ, all thanks to Gorentals!

We first got to know Gorentals from rankers, did a little research and decided to go with them on a Corolla Hatchback for 13 days. Nearing to our vacation date, we realized we had a free upgrade to a Sedan (Maybe because we got the insurance package which costs a bomb). However, I still decided to stick with our Corolla Hatchback.

The car pick up procedures were hassle free, staffs of the Christchurch team were pretty friendly as well. The vehicle given to us was superbly clean!

Overall, we had a positive experience with Gorentals. It's highly recommended to rent from them. Once again, thank you Gorentals! We will certainly rent from you guys again!

Our experience with Go rentals in Christchurch was great. The customer service was friendly and efficient. We had no problems with the car, which was the budget 4WD. The only confusing part was how to take the shuttle bus to the rental office from the airport.
