It's cheap so expect cheap.
We hired a van for 2 weeks. The car drove great but one of the chairs was already broken and the car doesn't has curtains!! Yes, the windows are slightly blinded but you can still see everything from the inside and from the outside.
In summary, the car drives well but don't expect too much from it in terms of camping.

We just finished a 2week trip around the South Island of New Zealand in a hire van from Wicked Campers.
Our vehicle was comfortable, clean and reliable and hired at a very competitive price. Amber the Queenstown agent was very helpful and obliging and went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed for a safe and enjoyable trip which we did. I thoroughly recommend Wicked Campers and will defiantly use them next time we hire a vehicle.

Very bad experience !
Made 2 bookings for 2 different time at the London Location.
Received a confirmation email mentioning a different location. Been overcharged for the daily rate so I called the customer's service which explained that the website was not updated and the location had been changed. Price of the daily cover was a mistake and will be refunded.
Fair enough, location was annoying but could deal with it. Next morning, I received again a new email mentioning a 3d location. I called and they explained that they did a mistake but the location is a different one. Which is far away from London ! Location I can't make to so I ask to cancel all bookings (worth £600) which the person agreed to but warned me that this had to be decided by the head office in AUS. Fair enough, for the next 3 weeks, no reply, no email, no answer on the online chat, no answer on the phone, all leading back to the head office which send me an email that they were looking into it.
Since then Radio silence, lost the money, officially taking them to court now if the BVRLA can't resolve the issue before.
BE MINDFULL AND CAREFULL WITH THEM!! Worse communication and customer's service ever !

All in all we have been very happy with our Wicked campervan.
A little nervous after reading so many negative reviews, we found a very gentle and supportive team in Auckland. We wanted to change to a car without graffiti, which was absolutely no problem. It's a basic car and equipment, but it was clean and technically perfect and made 3.000 kms without any problems. Dropping off in Wellington was easy and again the staff was very helpful and nice. Always again !

We used wicked campers for a three week trip from Auckland to Christchurch.
Being two 21 year olds, wicked campers were by far the cheapest. Easy process to pick the van up, got a self contained van even though we only booked non self contained (lucky they gave us a free upgrade because we needed it!). Van didn’t have any slogans on sides - which we didn’t specially request. Van went well, bed was as comfy as expected and van was clean. Got a crack in the windscreen 2 days before we were due to return the vehicle, we called roadside who said we could have it fixed within a few hours or simply return the van with the cracked windscreen as it was covered by our insurance. Returned the van with cracked windscreen, advised the staff who checked out the car upon return and they were fine. Received our bond back within specified timeframe.
We could not fault wicked campers and were really happy we got such a damn good deal.

We hired a wicked camper for a long weekend, specifically the non painted premium one.
The price was slightly cheaper than other companies and the car ran really well! Me and my partner couldnt fault the company and despite getting bad press for the offensive slogans, they do offer a lot of vehicles that aren't painted and calling the customer service team ensured us the cheapest price. Would recommend to people wanting a short cheap trip.

Absolutely the worst most unprofessional company I’ve ever had to deal with.
I picked up the camper in Christchurch where they didn’t go over any of the features of the vehicle. Just threw us the keys and said to read the papers in the camper. Not very helpful.
Next dropping off the vehicle was a nighmare. I put the drop off for Sunday in my contract. They said they don’t even have drop offs on Sunday and charged me $100 for late drop off.
Finally, they said 30 business days to return the bond. I called up after the 30 days and they said it’s behind and to re put in my details online. Very sure it was never on their radar.
Every time I called no body is helpful and have been so rude! Stay clear of this unprofessional company.

THE WORST PEOPLE TO DEAL WITH.
Dont get tricked by their low price. We hired a van for a week from Christchurch to Auckland. They showed me 3 vans to choose from. I chose the one that looked the cleanest.
Bed - Full of bed bugs and smells urine.
Kitchen area - cocroacks filled
Dont even think of using their cutlery if you have self dignity.
Storage boxes - had leftovers from previous hirers
Gear box - For some reason the van doesnt want to go from 2nd to 3rd gear. this happened within 3 hours into the first day. Called the mechanic, who was someone in Australia, blamed my inability to drive manual vehicles(for records I have been driving manualvehicles for 23 years now). Van was virtually undrivable on the way to Queenstown and we are stuck in the middle of the road.
Retuned the van very next day at queenstown, they were not ready to provide a replacement van or do a refund. Refund can only be done the owner who can only be contacted by email and he never replies. I would rather cancel my holidays than hiring from them again.

I'd just say beware of this company.
Booking process was mostly fine, then apparently something in their system duplicated so they tried to charge us TWICE the amount.. An email pretty much sorted this out.
It's the lowest price you'll get for any campervan hire but you really do get what you pay for.. Not great facilities, dirty, cracked windscreen that wasn't fixed etc. Don't get me wrong everyone who we dealt with was really friendly and chilled and thankfully we didn't have any problems with the camper during the time we drove it around NZ.
The MAIN problem with this company was when we dropped off the camper. The lady inspected it and everything was fine and she signed us off. We had even vacuumed and cleaned it to the point where it was cleaner than when we picked it up. It was when we returned to the UK and after about a month and a bit, I tried to contact them about the bond money, which was written in their agreement that they would return it within a certain time limit. They then responded by saying we had CRACKED the windscreen and got some random fine somewhere, so deducted that automatically from our bond money without even contacting us about it. No document or evidence or invoice. Luckily I had paid through my credit card so opened up a dispute with them. The window was cracked before us, so they must've charged the last person who was responsible but didn't bother to fix it!! After about a month, they changed tactics and made up a completely new lie to try and charge us for it. Eventually we got the full refund back.
Basically, just be careful of this company. The price is decent if you don't care about luxury or sleeping comfy for your trip etc. But it seems they are keen to try and scam people out of their bond money by making up things.

Listen, for a campervan rental at low low prices, this place can be great.
However, the van my wife and I got was basically just a rental car with a hacked together semi-bed made of wooden planks and gym mats. Their staff is not particularly helpful either, and they refused to give us even one day's worth of refund when we were forced to return the car ealry. If you are a single person on an extreme budget, and don't care about a comfortable car/experience or actual customer service, go for these guys. Anyone else? Stay far, far away.

I had a great experience with wicked.
Picked up my camper in Christchurch and dropped it off in Auckland and the staff at both depots were great. It didn't take as long to get going as I expected, once they had my details and showed me through the car I was off. And they had a huge selection of blankets and other items left over from past campers that helped me out, and I was able to leave them behind when I finished for someone else.
The car ran great, I relied on the wicked and rankers apps a lot to find a suitable place to park up overnight and also walks etc to do. They are genius apps, you can even filter by campsites that allow the campsite pass (which I recommend if you're planning on staying at a lot of the doc sites) Would totally recommend wicked for their professionalism, helpfulness and affordability.

Wicked Campers are basic, but do the job!
We didn't select them by choice but rather they were the only company with availability and were pleasantly surprised. Don't expect bells & whistles but we had a clean, well maintained vehicle with a funny slogan on the side.
The best thing we did however was buy some DOC conservation passes. This allowed us to stay in DOC sites every night without paying the cost per person each night. DOC sites can be very limited, particularly on the South Island where there are no rubbish bins and there are no showers ..... but plenty of lakes if you aren't above getting in for a quick wash!
We thoroughly enjoyed it and are already talking about doing this trip again in the future when we have our own family

This company is a total RIP OFF, they are LIARD, disorganised and helpless.
The Road assistance never answered and once it did, the man on the phone got very rude, telling us he " didn't want to hear about our lives problems". We hired a minisleeper campervan for 2 in Darwin. People at the office acted friendly and told us our car was "nearly new". We later on found out it was actually 300 000 kms already and the GPS, the cig lighter and the CD player didn't work. Though we had paid 2000 dollars for 18 days !!!!!! We still did not get any refund...
It´s unsafe and a loss of time, money and energy to go through Wicked Campers.
