We rented Jordy who was a very reliable vehicle. We had a minor accident, as we got bumped into while parked in a national park. Leon took very good care of us and it was always possible to get in contact. We would always chose the family business above the big ones.

Following lengthy internet research to hire a camper van of decent size and specification for a two month adventure, I came across Kiwi Motorhomes which was a small independent Company. They only had a small number of vans but the price was very reasonable and the vans ticked all our boxes. Eventually made contact with the owners, Leon and Varnier who were very helpful and friendly. Could not get a direct email address for the owners but had to go through Rankers which did take up a bit of time. Leon and Varnier gave us many tips to enhance our adventure. The booking and payment seemed to go through smoothly. The van was delivered to us in Auckland. It was very clean and fully equipped. The handover was thorough and very helpful. Within an hour, we were on the road and the van behaved well. Had a couple of issues during the two months but they were quickly resolved using the mobile phone provided. After 2 months, we dropped the van off in Christchurch and the return process was smooth and friendly. We were then taken to the airport for our flight home. I believe we got a better service overall than we would have done from the larger well known Companies and at a better price. The van was not new and modern but it was very clean and functional, with character I would definitely use Kiwi Motorhomes again and would recommend them to my friends. We travelled over 5000 miles in the two months and the van did us proud. Thank you

We were 3 friends visiting NZ for the first time and driving a self contained motorhome for the first time too! Thanks to the Kiwi Motorhome family (Leon, Varnier, Jamie and Remko) we had an amazing time marvelling at the beauty of NZ through various land, sea, water and air activities. There was sufficient space for us to move around in a 6-berth motorhome plus basic necessities already provided from day 1 of rental. Thanks much for the wine as well! Jamie gave us a thorough explanation on the motorhome and how to use the GPS. He also bought a stock pot cum steamer for us immediately after learning that we needed to cook rice. That was really thoughtful of him. Tq so much as it was really useful throughout our entire journey. Although we had some hiccups here and there throughout our 20 days with the motorhome, Leon and Jamie tried to help and follow up with us whenever they could. Thanks for giving us a clean, safe and comfortable motorhome to live in and to get us around NZ experiencing the best that NZ has to offer! We wish you best wishes and we'll surely return again to this beautiful country with many great people! Thanks heaps for everything!

We used the motorhome for a week and a half in the south island and a week and a half in the north island of New Zealand. The travel was certainly interesting with the twists and turns of the various roadways. It is an incredible country. Our first vehicle was a Fiat 6 speed that kept me busy with shifting because of the curves and hills. The second vehicle was an automatic which made the drive easier. It also was super equipped with microwave, television/satellite dish, and solar collector power. We were spoiled with this glamor camping in the "top ten" campgrounds. The motorhomes were extra clean and had nice items included like cleaning solutions, rags, towels, bedding, etc. It was so nice to have airport pickup and delivery so we didn't need to get a ride to the motorhome office.

When planning trips I do hours of research to make sure I am getting the best of the best. If you are like me, you don’t need to go any further than Kiwi Motorhomes. There is nothing they could have done differently to make our experience any better. We rented Tricia for about 10 days and were thrilled with our experience. The motor home actually looked better in person than the pictures, which is unusual. We are a family of three and our daughter is not quite 2. I had several special requests and they accommodated every one with no charge. (Even going so far as to purchase new two of the items I requested). The whole experience from the emails before the trip, the pick-up, the hand-off, the communication during our trip, the actual motorhome....everything was top notch. The quality of the motor home company you rent from really affects your experience, and we had the trip of a lifetime thanks to this company. I also appreciate the lack of advertising on the motor home. Some vehicles just scream tourist, but these Motorhomes make you feel like you blend in a little more:) I am usually not one to leave reviews (I am just that lazy:) but I was so impressed with this company!! I was pretty nervous to fly around the globe to “camp” in a country we have never been to, but Kiwi Motorhomes made it so simple. I can’t thank you enough for such a special trip with memories I will never forget!!

Leon, Varnier and I had a lively e-mail exchange and my questions were answered immediately. We are four adults and we were recommended Tricia.
On the pictures and the description on the homepage was not the age and the engine power. So we were a bit disappointed when we took over the camper.
Then we were very happy about how reliably tricia has brought us everywhere. We were 4 weeks on the road, drove 3500 miles and had no problems.
We would choose kiwi motorhomes again, but we would find out more about the age, equipment and engine performance.

From start to finish Leon and Varnier provided an exceptional service. The prompt friendly replies before we booked instantly set the scene of how great their company was going to be for our big New Zealand adventure. We were travelling with our 2 year old little boy and were provided with all the necessaries to make the trip so easy - car seat, bike seat, helmets and DVDs. We booked Sasha which was a perfect size for a family adventure. It was really comfortable with everything you could need in it. Any little problem we had on our trip was quickly replied to and sorted. We were so relieved at the end with their understanding over a scratch from trees, that was quickly fixed. I would totally recommend Kiwi motorhomes over any of the other providers. If we make it back over I wouldn't hesitate in using them again! Thank you so much for making our trip amazing!

Kiwi Motorhomes was our first adventure with campers and we couldn't dream about better start. Leon and Varnier make you feel almost like a part of their family, give a lot of helpful information and make sure that you are relaxed about your rent. All renting process is simple and there are no hidden catches in documents (something which is not so obvious in many car rental companies).
We used two of their campers and both were clean, in good conditions, even one of the oldest one. Thanks to them we fell in love in New Zealand and campers and we definitely will come back once again.
We highly recommend Kiwi Motorhomes!

Leon and Varnier were the epitome of what first time renters need! They provided a very personal experience, giving us what we needed for our family of 2 adults and 2 children (8 and 6).

Nate, our motorhome's name, was a beauty to drive and live in for nearly two weeks! Our trip started in Auckland, went down south to Wellington, and back! No issues that weren't addressed promptly!

I have to say I cannot recommend Kiwi Motorhomes enough! Feel good about renting from them, they will treat you like family! Even my kids were keen to give a hug to the owners when we had to depart!

Thanks for the best possible experience we first time renters could have!

My husband and I recently enjoyed 2 weeks touring around the North and South Islands in Little Pete. Despite being older than many of the other vans we saw on our travels it never missed a beat and was perfectly comfortable to travel and live in. Varnier and Leon went out of their way to ensure our campervan holiday ran smoothly. The van was stocked with many extra supplies not normaly provided and were greatly appreciated, especially the complimentary bottle of NZ wine and the wine glasses. The addition of bikes at no extra cost was a real bonus for us and we enjoyed making use of them at many of our stops. We travelled with another couple who had hired a van from a larger well known company, which supplied only the bare minimum, and they also found themselves having to utilize our supplies as well. We found Kiwi motorhomes a pleasure to deal with and apart from some initial confusion at pick-up in Christchurch the service was exceptional and there were no hidden costs. We would not hesitate to use this company again in the future.

Friendly service, though they were late dropping the van off. GPS was hard to use with no instructions.
The van had everything we expected and overall we really enjoyed our holiday. We would use them again.

Kiwi Motorhomes responds:

Hi Carol,
Thank you for your recent review, as you are aware accurate reviews are very important to us and our hirers, which is why we wanted to follow up on your comments with our Christchurch manager Remko who did the handover with you. Remko advised us that he was on time for the pickup, and that he offered to explain the instructions for the GPS to your partner who said he didnt need it, mentioning 'I know how to use these GPS, as they are all the same', you may have missed this conversation as Remko mentioned that you were on the phone at the time.
Remko has been working with us for a long time, the many things that we love about Remko are his punctuality, honest friendly manner and professionalism.
We do thank you for chosing Kiwi Motorhomes and would love to host you all again in the future.

Leon and Varnier at Kiwi Motorhomes are wonderful, welcoming folk who made us feel at home in 'Muscles'. The extra care and attention they gave us made it easy to settle in and make ourselves comfortable. They were informative and accessible when we had questions, and pick up and drop off were a breeze. We highly recommend Kiwi Motorhomes to anyone wanting excellent customer service and a quality product.

We rented Maggie for 2 weeks and it was great! The booking process and the delivery of the motorhome was very simple and clear. Everything worked well on Maggie and we recieved Leo and Varnier's support throught the trip. Our main concern was the heating, since we went during winter time and it worked perfectly! Maggie is a "self contained vehicle", so allowed us to always stay on free camp grounds, saving money and experience more of the NZ nature. Totally recommend it!
