  • Big Gravel Patch next to the Road.

Long Drop Toilet. Didnt use it, can`t say anything about it. Was surprisingly quiet in the night. Good Spot to be close to Wanaka and around.

  • Overall quite good, just lets itself down with the toilets.

Have stayed here twice in the last month and each occasion the toilets look like it’s been a long time since they’ve been cleaned. Worse than most long drop toilets in NZ. However there is a lot of space here and the road is quiet at night.

  • Good spot if you want to stay near Wanaka.

Even in shoulder season it filled up at the evening. Around 5pm/6pm there was still enough space. Didn‘t use the facilities so no review to that.

We didn‘t realise the traffic at night if there was any. Had a good sleep.

  • Used it as a camping spot prior sunsent hike to Roys peak - around 20 minutes.

The camp was pretty busy, looked like a lot of people had the same idea. Public toilet available, not flushable though.

  • Says 50 vehicles but easily was 100 there for our stay.

Bathroom has very strong urine and chemical smell almost couldnt breathe. Some campers were very loud into midnight, so i would ask future campers to be more mindful of everyone else staying there and trying to get some sleep. Be considerate !

  • A big gravel parking with a lot of space.

Drop toilets with no water are close by. It seems that the place got full in the late evening so there were vans parking on the other side of the road. There was some traffic during the night

  • I’ve used many long drop toilets in my life and the ones at this location are by far the worst that I’ve ever smelled.

It is free to camp in the lot, but I would’ve paid any amount of money to never experience that smell that again.

  • Decent spot for overnight stay.

Just a big gravel space. Didn’t use the toilets that were available but there were toilets there. Was pretty full when we visited (early Nov) but felt pretty unregulated. Patchy phone signal (we found it ok) and 3 huge potholes as you enter the gravel lot (beware if arriving late). No dodgy characters or anything like that.

  • Next to the road and quite a few campervans parked.

Pit toilets are clean and reportedly cleaned daily. Perfect for a quick stopover, close to Wanaka

  • Lots of space, lots of campers.

Felt very safe, approx 10 mins from Wanaka. Toilets are 1 minute walk from the campground. There is toilet paper, there is no running water. Be mindful of the huge pothole at the entrance.

Late evening and night no noise from the road.

  • Nice free spot near Wanaka.

Next to road so little bit louder. Good view, 2 toilets nearby, no water.

  • A big parking lot, lots of room for 30+ campers, including big RVs.

Close to an intersection of 2 roads, so a bit noisy.

Has toilets, but they are not flush.

  • The nearest freedom camp to Wanaka.

Simple gravel ground and two long drop toilets. 15min drive to town. Plenty of spaces but fills up quickly in the evening.

  • Big parking, lot's of campervans so you can feel safe.

Dump toilets but modern and cleaned daily, with toilet paper. Close to road but it's not too busy, almost no traffic at night. No water provided at the area, and no benches or tables. It's a free campsite, and as one, it's really good one imo, better than some cheap paid ones in the area.
