Fantastic location, awesome sea on a windy night/ morning .
Cafe- what a fantastic building . Good choice of food. Lovely staff.

Beautiful spot with free choice to put your Camper.
Took a spot right next to the beach (noise from the highway completely cancelled out by the waves)
Note that there is very weak phone signal and no kitchen available.

WHAT an amazing place!
This is natural camping back to the roots.
You're next to the sea and in the middle of nature.
There are so many beautiful spots where you have enough space beeing on your own.
Very clean toilets and super modern showers.
Also the Cafe next by is so lovely. I had the best coffee there in 5 weeks NZ - Flat White with hazelnut.
I loved all about this magical place!
You need to stop there when you're around!

Great onsite hosts.
A one km strip of grass / pinetrees / sandy sites behind the beach. Location doesn't get better than this! Fabulous sunrise over the sea. Big, unmarked sites - pick whether you want to be under the trees or out on the open grass. Only downside is if you're at the end of the site and need to use the facilities, they're a long way away!

Was very busy than I've ever seen it easter 2026 a lot coming and leaving after 1 night stay lots of small vans with multiple occupants parking near ablution block so out of soap and overflowing
hand paper shower rooms getting tired in need of a little attention here but overall a good value camp

As advertised, this is a great place on the ocean.
I loved the cafe too. The train track is right there but i wasn’t bothered by the sound.

$18 Seaside location with good facilities and $2 showers.
Nearby cafe (the store) has wifi and good food n coffee.
Weak/no cellular reception. Near the main road but closer to the beach and the waves cancel out the sound. Coin laundry and small book exchange. Friendly caretaker.

Lovely spot right by the beach!
There is some traffic noise from the main road but the white noise from the waves kind of balances it out. The cafe shuts quite early at 4pm so just be mindful if it’s cold & wet in the evening! Phone signal seemed to be quite intermittent.

We stayed right down past the first lot of pines, right on the beachfront.
Mid-March and no one else near, plus there's a handy long drop. No road noise because the sea was so loud.

Pick your own Ocean View!
V long beachfront site but facilities at one end. Bit of Road noise from SH1 and parallel rail track but drowned out for the best part by crashing waves… Great cafe but early close.

Stayed 2 nights (3 adults) $74.00.
Paid $2.00 to have a shower but it was ice cold. No water available from the two taps we tried. Nice to be by the sea but very noisy at night with trains and road traffic.

A lovely spot to pull in after arriving late from the Ferry.
It's a large site with facilities and coin operated showers ($2). We got a spot right by the beach and got to see and incredible sunrise and sunset. Clean toilets and showers. At $14 per adult it was a reasonably priced. Cafe the next day for breakfast was incredible.

The campsite is below/across the store cafe, on another road.
Not a pleasant time. There was no signal, you’re slightly sloped, and there’s no dumpsite. The store cafe view was beautiful though and laundry was helpful (coin machine I believe $2).
