The Store is one of the reasons why people travel Aotearoa NZ in a campervan. You'll gain a true feeling of freedom at this special location.
All the while benefit from the near new toilet / shower facilities and great coffee (and other yummy food) from the iconic on-site Cafe.
Camping at it's very best.

The campsite area has a slight slope but it's not too bad. Be aware that the toilet and shower block is at one end of the campsite and not centrally placed. The views of the ocean are to die for which is why you would come here. However, be sure to pack earplugs. SH1 runs alongside the campsite and you get the constant noise of trucks breaking for the S- bend over the railway overpass. Plus there are 2 or 3 trains per night which will definitely wake you. The result was a very poor night's sleep.
Also, while the showers are strong and hot, the ventilation in the shipping container they are built in is woefully inadequate with the result it turns into a suffocating sauna. I was glad to move on after one night.

Beautiful sea views. Dog allowed. Fantastic food at The Store meant we could dine in style at lunch & snack at dinner -no cooking makes for an even better escape. Great new toilet & shower block

A bit disappointed. Very nice new ablution block. Sites slope markedly towards the sea. Difficult to get the caravan level. Unable to have a meal at the cafe..booked out for a wedding. Noise was the main issue. Loud music until midnight. Railway line right next to camp, 3 freight trains during night. Numerous heavy trucks on main road next to railway line. Very little sleep.

A really beautiful campsite along the highway to stop over for a sleep. In fact, it’s a fantastic place to stay for a few nights as it’s not far from Kaikoura and Blenheim, as well as the seal colonies along the coastline.
Spacious with plenty of space for everyone, very clean facilities with 3 toilets and 3 showers as well as a sink at the back of the unit for washing up or filling up water bottles.
One downside was a train went past at 2am and the sound/rumbling jolted us awake.
If you stay around until 9 you can get something tasty from The Store.

Really loved this campground. We were in a campervan and found a great spot nestled in the trees right by the beach. Only the sound of waves lapping on the shore at night with an amazing sunrise in the morning. The store opens at 8.30am so perfect for a coffee and snack before hitting the road. Clean facilities and reasonably priced.

Beautiful wee campsite right next to the ocean. It has brand new ablution block with hot showers ($2 for 5mins). Pricing was a bit steep for what it is $24 for 2, no power or wifi. No select spots camp where you like. There is some road noise & the odd train that come through. Good coffee at the shop for breakfast too.

One of the best spots. Just beautiful. The store up the road was a great place to eat. You also pay camp fees there. Loved it. Stayed an extra night.

The Store people at Kēkerengū are invariably friendly and onto-it, and they front an irresistible café as well as the new camp site next door. At just over an hour south of Picton this is the best place to park up after the late ferry crossing from Welly. Just rock on in, wake to the surf, and pay (hardly anything) for your over-nighter at the Store café when you pick up your first long black of the day. But Kēkerengū is so naturally pretty and the café and the landscaping and shower block have such good design IQ you could turn up way earlier and be twice as happy.

What a spot! Safe parking right on the beautiful coastline. Lovely walks and dreamy sunsets. Great entertainment watching the local's surf break. We didn't get to the cafe as it was closed at the time of our short stay, but we wish we had time to stay longer. The cleanest shower, toilet block. We'll be back :)

What a gem of a camp site! Used to pass it by until someone said its newly improved.Totally beach front, large flat sites with plenty of choice, even a few in the nearby forest! A new toilet block with great showers was welcome. Woke up next morning to dozens of dolphins frolicking just metres away. - special experience. Great coffee and breakfast at The Store makes it a favourite stop on our trips to Christchurch.
