Seventy percent of New Zealand's grapes are grown here, and the Sauvignon Blanc is genuinely world class. My pick for exploring it is a guided tour rather than biking - you'll get access to parts of the wineries that bike tourers don't see, and if the guides are winemakers themselves (which the good ones are), you'll learn things you didn't even know to ask. Hop N Grape Tours is the one I'd go with - use promo code RANKERS to save 10% on the day. If you'd rather feel the wind in your hair, Wine tours by bike is the pick for a self-guided dabble. Both options do pickup and dropoff from your accommodation, which is genuinely handy.
If you want a proper sit-down meal, Arbour Restaurant near Renwick is top notch. For something quicker, there's Cheese and Cheers at Vines Village - a bit different, cheerful, and easy. And if you're calling in at a cellar door on your own, Bladen Wines is one I can genuinely recommend. Just go easy on the plonk if you're driving afterwards.
Over in Picton, the iconic Toastie Lords is honestly my favourite thing about the town. Sit on the waterfront on a nice day and eat your toastie there. Simple as that.
