Whakarewarewa The Living Maori Village
A great place with all funds going straight to the community.
Tour guides are very friendly and informative, living in the community themselves. The food is average but it is all about the experience rather than the meal quality. The trail around the area is nice and short, but was a little difficult to navigate due to no signage, however if you utilise the map you get an indication of what you are looking at. Cultural performers were very entertaining!

Lake Okareka Walkway
An easy walk with some signage sharing information about the nature and history of the area.
The lake is beautiful and lots of bird life. From the information on the first board, we thought we would 2 a bit about the eruption but nothing came up afterwards. Easy walk for kids but the path can be a bit narrow after the boardwalk for a pram

Beautiful tracks and forest!
There are many options to choose from ranging from short 30 minute walks to the 8 hour hike. Loads of bike trails around the area too. A popular place but extremely spacious to share
