Plenty of campers and we went in winter. Decided to stay further up the coast instead.

A viewpoint car park but definitely happy we stopped here the night for the view alone.

Wairau Diversion Reserve
This was the best campsite on our trip.
Beautiful - on the river and by the sea. We camped under the trees near the beach. Watched an amazing sunrise.

Easy to find.
Seals were cool in the morning but scary at night. Had a fantastic sunrise here.

Edward Baigent Reserve and Camping Ground
Stayed here for one night.
Plenty of people who were having some kind of party most of the night and we went in winter. Did the job but nothing too special.

Waitapu River Bridge
We straight up got stuck here in the gravel and had to dig our way out and we were right in the middle of the site.
Site nothing too special but amazing view down by the river in the morning at sunrise which made up from our terrible arrival.
