The drive to get there takes you through the clouds and is astonishing. it is a long way but it is definitely worth it.

Great views from the summit but a hard (fairly boring) ascent - great for fitness.

At a dead end of the island so many miss it - highly recommended.
Very quiet and incredible beach with great views out across the Spit. Check out the cliffs too.

Would recommend you split your Abel Tasman trip to half kayaking, half walking. Surprisingly hard work in the kayaks.

Abel Tasman Coast Track
If you are not doing the entire track, start from the top (Wainau) as it is even more beautiful and so much quieter.
Do not miss Separation Point or Mutton Cove - a highlight!
