Very busy but very cool!
Grab a spade to dig or jump in someone else's hole. The locals are sweethearts, make sure you lay on the beach afterwards.

Waitomo Glowworm Caves
Very cool to see the glowworms but it feels just a bit too touristy and it is a bit pricey.

Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland
Very cool and unique geological features.
A bit pricey, but I'd say it is worth it. You will see natural things you will most likely never see elsewhere.

Tongariro Alpine Crossing
Absolutely stunning and worth the time and effort.
See incredible mountains, sulphur lakes, volcanic activity and a quick changing landscape.

Mount Maunganui Summit Walk
Mt Maunganui beach is absolutely beautiful and the trek about the Mt is well worth it.
Especially at sunset.
