Lucky Rentals
So far, so good.
Despite hearing of horror stories and bad customer service, thankfully all is well for us. So far three weeks into a five week rental. Our Road HiAce has done 3000km with us and near half a million more and still working fine. Great size and living space for couples and of course the price can't really be beaten, which hopefully does not prove to be a bad thing!

Island Sailing Adventures
Best day trip from Paihia if you want to see a bit of everything.
We sailed on the beautiful yacht which you can help with. We hiked on tiny islands, kayaked in see through bottom kayaks and snorkelled. We also saw a pod of dolphins on the way back who followed us for a while. Great value for money.

Tane Mahuta Walk
One of our highlights of the North Island were the many DOC walks through the giant Kauri forests of Waipoua.
Great way to stretch the legs (and the necks) as you stare up at these monsters. Free too which is always good. Don't miss the big boys, Tane Mahuta, Te Matua, Yakas and their 4 Sisters!

Abbey Caves
FREE.
Bring shoes you do not mind getting wet and a head torch and you will have great fun! Thousands of glowworms and stalagmites and stalagtites. The water can be nearly waist high at some points and it can be a bit claustrophobic at times but totally amazing experience and FREE!
