We liked the price and hot shower so much we stayed here twice during our camper van trip.
Open powered sites are along main road but no street noise at night. Other powered sites are taken by long-term campers. Water at many sites. 15+ open sites overall around the cricket field. A fine place to charge your batteries. Do the Rob Roy glacier hike.

Nice clean basic DOC camp secluded away from road 200m with 3 sites at waters edge and three in wooded area.
Wonderful view and we clammed at low tide. Pit toilet.

Great freedom camp with some space to park along clear tidal river otherwise open parking area for 20+ campers.
One clean pit toilet. Please take your rubbish plus others with you!

Henry Creek Campsite
Yes can be windy but that keeps the sandflies away!
Some spots have water view but more wind. Pit Toilets were clean. Nice DOC site. CAUTION: DON'T DRIVE DOWN INTO A CAMPING SPOT UNLESS YOU KNOW YOU CAN GET OUT IN RAIN (she knows now). Thanks for the tow out by local kiwis!

Nelson Creek Camping Ground
Nice camping area.
Some space near trees otherwise large open grass field for 30+ campers. Please donate. Camp site run by locals to support community activities. Friendly Nelson Hotel pub a quick walk up to main street and cold beer. Beautiful Callhoughn trail from camp ground with great vistas.

McKee Memorial Reserve Camping Ground
Prefect place.
First 1/3 of site has beach front spots 10m from water the rest are behind a few meters of trees to beach. We parallel parked on beach spot and used a few rocks to level camper. Some camp/live there long-term. Many many spots in grass fields. Clean bathrooms and friendly caretaker on bicycle.

Wyndham Camping Ground
Clean quiet campground with 15+ powered sites plus 20+ non powered sites in a large grass field with many shade trees.
$2 hot shower, large indoor kitchen with power and seating area. Drinking water and dump station. Pay at honor lock box. Some long-term residence camping there.
