Don’t understand the very good reviews.
Don’t get me wrong, it is a good and decent holiday park. Everything was nice and clean and the river is just next to it. It’s just not the “Best campsite in NZ”. Still good for a night and cheap, too.

We had a wonderful stay at this campground and can highly recommend it.
The view over the sea was absolutely stunning, and the beach nearby was simply amazing – one of the best we’ve experienced.
The facilities were simple, but very clean and clearly maintained with a lot of care and attention to detail. Everything felt welcoming and thoughtfully arranged.
One of the highlights was the fresh fruit that was available for free, as well as the selection of games and books guests could use. It created a really relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
And the owners were incredibly kind and welcoming – they made us feel right at home. We would definitely love to come back.

We stayed in our camper in the backyard for one night and then left it there for two other nights to go to Raikura.
Luckily we gave Kai a call earlier to reserve a spot, since spots are limited. But even when full, I am sure Kai will find a spot for your car somehow.
She was just the nicest and funniest person and we are so glad we chose to come to the lodge. It has all the Amenities it needs plus a fee tour of the building, which used to be the old post office. Lots of character and nice people!
