North Island ▷ Auckland Region ▷ Auckland ▷
We spent a week touring the north island and two weeks in the south.
Like many, we spent a long and confusing time researching campervans and motorhomes and, in the end, decided to go with a smaller company, hoping for a more personalised experience. We were concerned that, should anything happen to us or the van, we would have someone in the background willing and able to help. In the end we chose New Zealand Frontiers (NZF) and we are so glad we did. Luckily we had no problems along our journey but from the minute Kenrick picked us up at the port in Auckland we knew we were in safe hands. After a short tour of the city and a comprehensive handover, we were on the road with satnav, maps and information to help us on our way. The campervan was a dream to drive. Self contained but with added extras including an inverter so that we could boil a kettle and make toast even when we were off grid. Additional solar panels meant that we consistently had the power we needed and more.
NZF also arranged our ferry booking (Wellington to Picton) and kept us informed when the ferry company changed the timings.
Sadly we did not have enough time in New Zealand to do the full loop back to Auckland so NZF met us at Christchurch Airport to coincide with our check in time for our flight back to the UK. This meant we could maximise our time in the area and did not have to worry about hotel bookings or getting out to the airport.
Having met several people along the way who were having problems and waiting for some of the bigger companies to do repairs or replace their vehicles we were delighted to have received such great service. It made our whole trip easy and enjoyable. One we won't forget!
