Huge campsite with 140 official sites.
Last DOC campsite or any site for that matter on the way to Milford Sound. There are quite a few sheltered areas for cooking and quite a few long drop toilets, but almost half of them were closed. The toilets werent too clean either, which was expected with so many people there, but my biggest problem was that none of the toilets had any "lids" on them. Views were great like any other site on this route. Loads of sandflies and mosquitoes which you can't avoid in Milford area, so be prepared accordingly. Lake Gunn walk is just beside the site. No cellphone reception, but you could drive up the road for 10-15 mins to the "Divide" where you get full reception

Loved this camp site.
The lake was a minute's walk from our tent and the views of the mountains and the lake are breathtaking. Loved it so much that we spent an extra day here. Lots of long drop toilets, which weren't too clean and the place is so rocky that you'll bend a few of your tent pegs like we did. Checked with few others who pitched tents and they too had the same problem. But the views make up for everything.

Was only there for one night on the way to Dunedin.
Good open area. The toilets were clean and there was a sheltered area for cooking. Easy to find as well. Google maps got us there correctly and there are small yellow markers on road as well. No drinking water, though the tap water can be boiled before drinking. The river is only a 5 min walk from the site. No cellphone signal.
