Must visit!
Such a beautiful bush walk, I saw birds that I had never seen before, even the chance to see kiwi if you stay the night. Also they had Wi-Fi, facilities were okay but no potable water

Would live here if I could.
We came while Auckland were still locked down (Dec 2021) and there was hardly anyone else around. It was paradise. The pool is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen. The bar, the cave, the spa, all so clean and perfect temperatures. We practically stayed in all day. The kitchen and bathrooms were really nice too. We paid $67 for an unpowered site (for 2, I think the price is just per site not per person) so it worked out to be pretty cheap considering we got two days of pool access. Could be a nightmare if it was busy, but quiet it is heaven on earth.

Very good considering it’s a free car park.
Free Wi-Fi and the toilets across the road are cleaned daily. There are also big trees to park under and the ground is flat. We stayed a Tuesday night and there were a few boy racers, I wouldn’t like to stay Friday or Saturday night as I suspect it would be quite loud. Also, alright for two people but I would feel nervous alone, there are often people coming and going, not really sure what they’re doing in an empty car park.

Truly unique.
If you would like a tea party with three miniature horses this is the perfect spot. Very middle of nowhere, no Wi-Fi no reception, but very nice kids playground. Also walking distance to the hotel/pub which is a fantastic place to visit. I would recommend the whangamomona dark ale.

Okay it’s perfection.
We ended up staying an extra night because it’s so lush. $24 pp per night for a powered site (they don’t have unpowered sites unfortunately) and $25 for an hour in the hot tub for up to 6 people. It’s really close to the river which is warm enough to swim in! It’s very quiet at night and there’s enough solar lighting to see your way around but it doesn’t disturb you when sleeping. There’s grass by the parks which they said was fine to set up our awning on :) the parks probably suit smaller vehicles better though. There’s free hot showers and the bathrooms are very clean. There’s also a cafe/bar/restaurant which is very reasonably priced with a lot of nice seating. Oh and there is a kitchen with everything you need including a fridge. Full on glamping.

Plenty of space for countless vehicles (large and small) lots of tree cover so not too noisy from the roads or waves.
No streetlights nearby so nice and dark at night. When we arrived the toilets were a state, but the cleaner came through in the morning and did such a great job! It looked amazing after! Who ever did the cleaning on the 28th November, bless you, fantastic mahi.
