A good spot for the night if passing by. Not the most scenic campsite but the drive along the road in the valley is beautiful. Powered sites available for additional $6. The place was empty when we came in June so got choice of site. Visitor centre nice and close and worth while. Some nice looking walks around the area however we didn’t have time to do them.

The first camping option on the drive up the Kauaeranga Valley so it can be popular. Really close to the Visitor Centre (well worth a look) and there's nearby swimming holes which were well loved on the hot days we stayed here.
Thanks to all the good people working for the NZ Department of Conservation - for all your hard work - making NZ more beautiful, accessable and healthy! Cheers 😍
