A+ service and an absolute "10" of an experience. We rented a Sprinter-van RV from Hamish at Road Abode for a tour of the South Island. Started in Nelson & went up to Abel Tasman, down the west coast, through Wanaka, Queenstown, Te Anau and out to Milford Sound. Then up to Mt. Cook, over to Tekapo, down to Dunedin & ended our trip in Christchurch. Hamish was very thorough in describing the details of the van & we used it to its fullest (even freedom camped). Cooked many delicious meals, had numerous card games and it was amazing to walk up and have a cold drink out of the fridge after a long trek! We had zero mechanical issues as the RV ran like a top! The entire trip was comfortable and gorgeous! Hat's off to Hamish and his crew at Road Abode! We would do it again in a heartbeat!

Rented / hired and utilized every centimeter of a 6 person Mercedes motorhome. It drove great for its size and everything was in perfect condition. Kitchen and linnens etc. well stocked. THE BEST run through I can imagine at pickup. It was like a free education and presented in a way so everything stuck. At the same time it's a very chill company so I'm sure you could say "ok ok I've got it" if you are in a rush. I'm a nut about safety so we tested several child seats. Overall received over an hour of hands on help. Got picked up at the Nelson airport in the actual motorhome too. The owner is basically a world record road traveler, camper and vehicle expert so renting from him is like borrowing a surfboard from Kelly Slater. Verry reassuring and a turbo boost start for our adventure. I bet you can not find a company more legitimate than Road Abode.

We have booked a Road Abode motorhome for one month in March 2017.
Shane and Hamish were very helpful and answered quickly our questions when we were preparing our trip from France. We had initially booked a 2-berth campervan, and Road Abode kindly upgraded our rental to a 4-berth motorhome, which turned out to be very pleasant !
No problem at all regarding the pick-up and drop-off times, many thanks to Hamish for his availability (even on Sunday) and for his advice on how to use the motorhome.
The vehicle was fully equipped, with two sets of household linens and bath sheets. The interior was clean but not spotless.
The motorhome had more than 150000 km on its kilometer reader, but no issue at all with the driving around South Island.
We would definitively recommend Road Abode for a campervan rental !
The campervan we rented was very old, but it has everything we needed. Two days before our trip ended it stopped working. From Abode Motorhomes recomended us to give back the campervan as soon as possible. So we did it and we rent a car for the rest of our trip.
They ensure us to refund the amount of 3 days. I've been asking for that refund from March 2016, but it never arrived. Now they told me they can't refund anything. So, don't believe what Abode Motorhomes says!!
Choose another company for better experiences!!
The van we rented had multiple problems that cost us a lot of valuable vacation time to rectify.

My family hired a campervan from Road Abode for 12 days before the Christmas 2015 Shane was extremely prompt and reliable in answering any questions. The whole process was very smooth.
Shane friend dropped off the van to Picton were we got of from the Ferry with no problems and provided a detailed explanation. We drove the van around the South Island without any problems.
I would recommend Road Abode to anyone. Hope to come back again.
We at Rankers NZ, love to meet travellers on the road and share in some of the freedom. That's why Rankers NZ invites you to come and stay for free at our chill riverside overnight parking area in the Motueka Valley at the top of the South Island.
