Disappointing and expensive!!
25 dollars a person (x4)to park on a bit of car park with no amenities.!!!! No water, waste or power.
No microwave or proper laundry facilities.
Tired and run down.
Told to keep our dog on a leash yet their 2 dogs wandered around our van being a nuisance.
Save your money and go elsewhere.

We arrived on a cold, wet, windy afternoon after phoning ahead, to a lovely lady dressed in a raincoat who showed us where to park our 7m motorhome, and gave us a run down of the lodge, which had a fire
place that she had lit earlier.
Although an older building it was very clean and comfortable. We were the only guests there and but we had full use of the kitchen, living, dining, shower and toilet.
It is farm setting on a hill facing northeast.
We woke to a beautiful, quiet, sunny morning with quite amazing veiws of the Mangamuka's and part of the Hokianga harbour.
The Mountain Rd it is on is very aptly named, with a couple of spots being very narrow. But not a problem for the more adventurous.

Bit of a drive to get there over a Mountain Gravel Road.
Quiet Place with great view. We were welcomed by an older and nice Lady, who helped us park our 7meter CV. 7.5$ pp. with fully selfcontainment. Clean Toilettes. Didn't use the other facilities, all in all worth the drive for one night.

Bit of a drive to get here along a gravel mountain road, but well worth the effort.
Owner came out to greet us and helped guide me to reverse into a slightly narrow space. Just 15NZD for the unit as selr contained without use of any of the facilities. Consideted this a bargain. There are some magnificent views from here. c
Can not comment on facilities as we did not use them. Owner very friendly and helpful. Would recommend this site provided you are happy with a farm site and the mountain track.

Nice Camping place on a Farm.
Upon arrival the owner came up to our camper and asked if we would like to stay. We were the only ones at the site that night. The kitchen was quite big as were the bathroom and the shower. Everything seemed tidy. 18$ per person. Would stay here again.

Perfect view, might be nice if you have it for yourself.
However, we were there Easter sunday and the kitchen was occupied and the place packed. They charged us for both kids, even the infant. So it was 52 for two adults and two children. The next time I will go to a Top 10 for this money, because it's not much more but at least there is something to do for the children.

Great place on a small NZ farm!
Available are backpacker-bunk beds, stripped caravans with beds for 3/4 or tent/car sites. Fully equipped kitchen, hot shower and clean facilities, laundry available. You can buy fresh handpicked fruit&veggies from the garden, eggs and homemade bread for a good price.
Amazing view of the hills around with sheep and cows.
We loved it!!

Beautiful countryside view - though you miss out on the ocean view just around the corner.
Warmly welcomed by Louise, who ensured we enjoyed our stay. Facilities a bit dated for the price you pay. Cute caravan set up, though we came in a campervan and shared the site with just one other family for one night in October. Many friendly sheep. :)

Thanks Kelsy for that. We are in the middle of up dating, repainting the facilities etc.

Very nice location and views that would rate a 10, camping facilities are very dated but clean and functional.
We were here with a small self contained campervan and as such did not see the lodge facilities.
There are about 6 sheltered camping spots and 2 spaces for small campervans. Campervan spots are not quite level and I would not want to take a large camper up the gravel and steep access road.
Welcome by management was fine and clear instructions on how things worked. No external power available but cold washing machine wash can be done and owner offers a mobile charging service in the office.
Overall a nice stay and would consider returning with a camper or tent.

Thank you for this honest appraisal. The toilet and shower facilities are being upgraded. Mountain Road is a Far North District Council road and
as such we have no control of it. Six and seven metre camper vans do regularly arrive and cope with our parking area.

DO NOT STAY HERE.
I give a score of 1 for the view only, we have been camping in NZ for 8 weeks and stayed in over 20 camp sites and never been treated so badly. From the start we were shouted at for parking in the wrong spot, the site is split in two, campers separate from the lodge, the camping facilities are disgusting especially the shower and toilet, people wear shoes in the shower because of the state. One gas hob to share for everyone which was dangerous, you are not allowed to use the lodge facilities, I had the cheek to use the lodge shower due to the state of the camping shower and was officiously shouted at by the site owner's wife, I was polite but pointed out the state of the camping shower and walked away, her husband then came over and shouted at us for being trouble makers and threatened to take our car registration and report us to the police merely for using the wrong shower, these people should not be in the tourism trade, they ruined our new year.

The review below is an unfair representation of the situation and facilities. The showers in the camping ground building are currently being renovated. One was 'out of action' as it is being relined. Both the toilets and shower rooms walls, etc. are currently being painted. We acknowledge that is inconvenient for customers, but it is needed to complete the upgrade of the camping ground facilities. The floors of the entire camping ground building were recently sealed and painted so are perfectly clean. No-one has to wear shoes in the showers: the foam mats are there to make it easier for people to stand on the hard concrete floors, i.e. provide a little padding, and are cleaned and dried daily.
Customers do need to follow the parking instructions so that it is safe and easy for others to turn around, park and or drive in/out. Also some spots on the grass were getting too wet due to the heavy rain from the storm. The cooking hob is perfectly adequate, and many groups/couples/families have used the kitchen recently without complaint. There are plans to expand the kitchen and add another gas hob, but these have not yet been done. The Lodge was also fully booked out on those days so there were many other customers who needed to use those facilities.
The Banks were not shouted at all, but were politely and firmly reminded - given they were paying for the camping facilities and site at a different rate from the Lodge prices - to use the camping facilities. When they were uncooperative and very personal in their complaints about this request, they were warned that any threats or trouble would result in the Police being notified.
