Information

Inland Track

Time: 3 days, Distance: 37.5 km

The Inland Track is the Abel Tasman's lesser known cousin. This walk follows the ridges above the Abel Tasman coast. Look for limestone outcrops that provide great views. If you prefer solitude after walking the coast track, then the Inland Track provides a quiet return trip.

    Loved the Inland.

Peaceful and off the beaten track. Track well maintained. Huts were basic but worked well.

Challenging climb to the top of the hill.

However, you are rewarded with fantastic views over the harbour. Easy descent to Whariwharangi.

One day walking track from Marahau , part of the coastal track, then on the Inland Track in the direction of the Holyoake Clearing Shelter.

After two and a half hours, take the track back to the coastal walk. So much better than the coastal walk! More adventurous. Beautiful landscapes and views from the top!

From the parking in Wainui Bay, making the circuit through Totaranui and Gibbs Hill.

With no people at all, for us it was the best part of the Abel Tasman.

You will need 3 days, the 2nd is only in the forest without viewpoints, a little bit boring.

On 1st and 3rd days great viewpoints. Very good huts, track is steep and narrow. Gives junle feeling, beware of the possums!

Amazing scenery, great camp grounds (DOC), very peaceful...

Nature at its best... Preserved for a very good reason. Keep up the amazing work.
