Amazing park. Great powered spots (and unpowered van spots are nice too, just a wee bit smaller but still separated nicely from adjacent spots). Short drive into town or 20-30min walk). Excellent facilities and nice little spa+sauna for hire. Kitchen was a bit too small but there is also a nice outdoor kitchen/bbq area covered with heaters outside. One of our favorite places we stayed.

Great camp spot right outside of town. We didn’t use the kitchen but did use the bbq area which was wonderful, although I can imagine gets really crowded in the summer. Bathrooms are big and temperature controlled - and they played nice music!

Beautiful setting up above the lake. I got up early in the morning and watched the sun peak over the mountains and at night all the stars were visible. Bathrooms were clean and it was close enough to activity, although not close enough for me to want to walk. Nice place to stay - would stay again.

I had to pay the full $ 55 for a powered site, even though I was alone. That's never before happened to me. So very expensive for one adult.

Park is very attractive and clean. Walking distance to town with free drop off in town on the hours early evening. Friendly staff. Only issue was it was tough to get in and out of site with 7 meter van. Curb around site parking too high which caused minor damage to gray water pipe when maneuvering to leave site. Should really lower curb on some sites, otherwise enjoyed our stay and would return. Wanaka is beautiful.

Facilities clean and new including small but helpful children play facilities. There's a free shuttle bus into Wanaka hourly each afternoon but no shuttle back. Sites close together but not too claustrophobic. Downside was cost: we found sites equally good sites for much less in other parts of S Island, market forces at play here.

This was my favourite of 8 campsites in the South Island.
Clean, decent pitch good showers and large kitchen, we hired bikes from reception and did laundry which we could hang to dry on washing lines, there was even a shuttle to stop you off in town, the walk back was more like 35 minutes not the 25 we were told.
The town is excellent and has great bars and restaurants so would highly recommend visiting them.

The best holiday park so far during our 3 weeks in New Zealand! The facilities were very clean. Free and unlimited WiFi was a rare luxury in NZ, even though it seemed to got a little crowded and slowed down to almost zero. The best thing however was the spa with a couple of pools & sauna that was included in the price! It was very relaxing after hiking up and down the Roy's Peak track. A powered site for 2 was $47 if I remember correctly. There was also a spot for washing your car!

Reviewed about 1 year ago

Wanaka Kiwi Holiday Park and Motels responds:

Hi Kimmo! Thanks for mentioning the spas and sauna. Unfortunately as of the 1st of May there is a small extra fee per person, per day for the use of these however everything else we have kept the same!
