Camp in our scenic reserve with beach access, extensive bird and marine life, the Moeraki Boulders a short stroll away and star gazing at night.
Insiders have been flocking to beautiful Hampden Beach since many generations to enjoy the safe swimming beach or kayak the lagoon. And also the fishing in the bay is awesome.
You might see the endemic hector dolphin in the bay and a leisurely stroll along the beach (30 minutes) will take you to the ancient and mystic Moeraki Boulders.
Ride a bike to the lighthouse (about 8 km one way) and see the beautiful coast…

Absolutely lovely spot, unpowered sites very near the beach. Powered sites beautifully laid out and set up. Excellent facilities and friendly staff. Only (extremely) minor complaint is the showers are pretty whimpy. Not a huge deal, but when you are longing for a shower, a little pressure is nice😊. Still 10/10 though!

What a great spot. Lovely campground, very clean and friendly owners. We were in a tent on a powered site for 5 days and really enjoyed our time here

Great camping ground with all the amenities you need. Just be aware that the grounds for non powered vans is a bit lumpy and not level everywhere but the good thing is you can park with a great view of the beach.
Very clean well maintained toilets, showers and kitchen. Bikes available for kids and a great park and even a skate half pipe.
Sadly we arrived and there was dense fog! But we managed to still catch low tide to view the boulders which are a 2km walk away along the beach or 4 minutes drive. You just have to make sure you time it so that you’re back before the tide comes in if you’re walking.
Good coffee at Vanessa’s Cafe just up the road and she opens at 6am and the place is warm and inviting with a great selection of in-house made pies and cabinet food.

What a great little campground! The owners are super friendly and welcoming and there is plenty to keep the kids occupied. Facilities are clean and kitchen well stocked. Had a lovely wee tent site with an ocean view which was great. Would recommend and will definitely come again!

Just awesome I could go on for ages how great this place is.
The owners are so helpful and real cool people
And all the amenities are so clean and tidy.
Safe for the kids and the beach is wicked.
And the fish & chips at the top of the hill are the best you will come across.
There is a Four Square shop up the hill as well that will have everything that you need.
They even have bikes for the kids to ride around the camp
Can’t wait to go back again.
Real cool spot

Really great campground. This was our second time staying here, this time tenting. Quiet, relaxed, clean facilities, playground for our kids who also love the kitchen ‘artwork’, friendly owners.

Clean tidy site with plenty of space, washing machine and tumble dry too. $17 for a non powered pitch. Kitchen facilities nice too with pots and other utensils. Short walk to the beach too. Only a few extra dollars for a lot more luxury.

This is just the best little camp ground I've stayed at.
Friendly and helpful owners, clean, quiet and beautifully situated.
Will definitely be returning at some point. ✔️
