We enjoyed our stay at Tongariro holiday park.
Stayed for 2 days because we did the crossing. Nice (free) showers, large kitchen and laundry facilities (4$). Good arrangement from the campsite for the shuttle bus. We only bought wifi, which didnt work for us.

Speaking for a powered campsite, everything was well organised, fresh water ,dump station and laundry available.
Did the tongariro crossing and booked for 2 nights.

Good location when you want to do the Crossing, they offer a shuttle for the track.
But one night is enough. There is no signal for the phone and wifi costs 10$/250MB. Kitchen is pretty small and there is too many people at the same time. Ovens didnt work and some top plates didnt work either coz there was no gas.

Stayed here because Whakapapa was full.
Bus gets you to crossing start earlier from there. Does pick up here though. Pitches ok size but too near road which was noisy at times. Very old facilities and mixed showers which couples seemed to enjoy!!! TV lounge, pool table. No view of mountain.

Perfect location if you want to do the Tongariro crossing.
We asked for one night, and the man replied that we must stay 2 nights, because lot of people want to sleep here during the weekend. We had nowhere else to go so we paid for 2 nights. I don't even know if this is legal.
A bit noisy, because the road is very close (powered sites).
You can take the shuttle in the campground ($35) and this is really interesting because your car stay here.
The first night was noisy, the second a nightmare because people came late, and the kids used the playground close to our car shouting for hours, till late.
Some people come here to fish, they stay in the cabins for a week or more, and they feel and do like at home, they use to talk and laugh late in front of the kitchen. Of course we slept right here...

They were very weird about gates and codes, but the location is perfect if you are doing the Tongariro crossing.
The camper van spots are slightly sloped, we got there early and get a good spot. We did laundry there and the cost was reasonable. The kitchen is nice with decent space for cooking and eating. The bathrooms are clean.

This camping and the tools you can use is amazing.
Kitchen is great, if you do not like being in a small camper like us.

Very clean kitchen and new showers. Well run and friendly. Bit pricy for time of year.

We stayed at the Holiday Park for one night before starting the Alpine Crossing on 10.02.2016.
Ideal location to start the crossing, only a few minutes to the car park. You can book shuttles at the campground but as we wanted to leave immediately after the crossing, we had booked a shuttle with "Mountain Shuttle" and could park the campervan at their security car park avoiding the completely crowded regular car park.
The hosts both seemed friendly and took some time showing us around. The women's toilets and showers seemed updated and were clean but the mens toilets/ showers urgently need an update and weren't really clean. The kitchen seemed a little bit too small although the holiday park wasn't completely booked.

Campsite, toilets and kitchen are clean.
There is a small outdoor playground for kids. Location was convenient for us. Negative: Just on the roadside (a bit noisy) - no charm, no view. Pricey for the quality (55 NZD / night for a powered site for a campervan with two adults and one 2.5 year old. Good for one night only

We stayed there only for one night (originally booked for 2) on October 29th, 2016.
Cut our stay because they just broke down a house and burned the remains at the spot. Due to the flames and smoke only a few sites were possible to stay at. The other sites were to close to the flames. The camp ground is worn down, toilets dirty, directly at the state highway and no view to the mountains. And that all for pricy 50 NZD each night for a powered site for a campervan. No thanks. They will never see us again.

This camping is a good base for when you want to do the Tongariro Crossing.
We stayed here for one night $40 unpowered 2 persons, which is a bit expensive but the location is good. The campsite is OK with a nice kitchen and good and clean washrooms. The spots to stay are open for the unpowered sites so you feel a bit close to you neighbours.

Good facilities and great location for the Alpine Crossing.
Very expensive though. $44 per night with a minimum of two nights. Very bad experience with the manager who was mean, rude and unprofessional. Do not recommend at all!
