Lovely campground, good location, super friendly and helpful front desk. Would splurge the money for a campsite if you are mostly freedom camping through New Zealand. Has wifi and hot showers

Stayed for two nights in a small cabin room which has a simple kitchen set up (no sink though) and double bunk bed. Grant, the owner was very helpful, full of knowledge of local attractions. Place was clean however does need. Bit updating in the bathroom and kitchen. Overall happy with our stay and have made great memories from it.

Can only confirm all the positive reviews from previous comments.
One of the best we have stayed on during our 4 weeks touring the North island in a motor home.
An added bonus was being given some freshly smoked fish an Saturday tea time by fishermen staying on site. They must have been on a fishing comp and were giving away to all campers.
Grant the site owner is very helpfull and full ofinformation on the surrounding areas especially the nearby beach with hotpools.
He even supplied shovels for digging out your own patch.
A popular site and was full when we arrived on a Thursday evening but fortunately had rung ahead previous day and reserved a pitch.

Very welcoming and informed guy to greet us. Picnic table by our powered site. Facilities had all we needed and good hot shower. One of the best campsites. We went for run/walk in both directions on coast line. Both very interesting and stunning views. We were lent a spade and visited the hot springs on the beach and Very relaxing 2 days.

Lovely site, lovely man. Stayed a couple of nights in early November. Very peaceful, just 3 or 4 other vans and 1 cabin in use. Facilities are great - no they're not brand new but everything works extremely well and the manager is gradually upgrading the site. He's one of the world's helpful people. Wifi is free and works well. Nice beaches and walks around. Kawhia has a general store, cafe, hotel/pub, fish shop, this time of year it closes early - if it opens at all - so go there for the country not the nightlife

This was one of the best campingsites (of 17) we've been to on the Northisland. The owner was super helpful and gave us amazing tips for things to do around the area. He also gave us shovels for free to dig our own hot pool on the beach.
The campingsite is very clean, quiet and a 5-minute walk away from the sea.

A lovely quiet location. We stayed in May 2017 and had the place to ourselves. Grant our host was a gem. He made us feel very welcome and was a wealth of local knowledge.
