There's a reason this place keeps coming up when Queenstown travellers talk about winding down properly. Private cedar-lined pools, views straight out over the Shotover River valley, and decent enough spa treatments to make the price feel justified. The views really are the headline here. Most travellers mention them first and mean it. A cool evening is the sweet spot, when the alpine air bites a little and the pool feels even better for it. It's popular with couples and anyone needing a reset after a big few days on the road or the trails.
Worth noting a couple of things from travellers who've been. The time slots move along at pace, so factor in the shower before you get in. A few reviews mention staff being a touch abrupt, though it doesn't seem to affect the experience much once you're in the pool. Check exactly what's in your package before you book so there are no surprises on arrival.

Enjoy the amazing alpine scenery while relaxing in your private indoor/outdoor hot pool
ONSEN has 6 private Canadian type luxury tabs, housed in private cedar-lined bathing rooms, each of which can accommodate up to 4 people and is equipped with changing and shower facilities.
We capture pure water on its endless journey between the sky and the Earth in order to fill and continually refresh our pools.
They are filled with a mixture of mountain spring water, rain water, and lake water.
To maintain the pristine state of the water we momentarily energize pure Oxygen (O2) to form Ozone (O3) with a cleaning power a thousand times greater than Chlorine. Seconds later the Ozone reverts back to pure Oxygen, leaving nothing in the water but clarity, cleanliness and purity.
Each day we adjust the temperature depending on the weather,to assure you an ideal experience.
A unique feature of Onsen is the automated panoramic windows in each room.
Switch from indoor to outdoor by simply pressing the button beside the pool ,that ( which) would retract the windows and immerse you in the amazing alpine scenery.

Thoroughly enjoyed our hot pool experience here.
So worth the money, the views are spectacular and so relaxing. After a week of travelling NZ in a motorhome it was just what we needed.

We spent a really good moment in our private hot pool, enjoying the view with a glass of wine.
Definitely something you’ll enjoy to relax after a day spent hicking around this beautiful area.

A truly relaxing experience.
A few problems though - their website doesn't say what each 'package' contains, so I booked the indulgence package and also chose to pay for hire towels. Turns out the package includes towels, so on arrival I had paid for towels twice. They offered me extra beverages or ice cream instead of a refund. I also found the staff to be quite abrupt (but not impolite) and their voices, volume and tone not in keeping with the tone of the experience. The waiting area is shabby. We were also shown to our pool room 5 minutes late with no offer of extra time at the end to compensate. Remember you still have to undress and take a shower before you can hop in and start enjoyed the tub. Luckily 50 minutes in the tub is enough as it's very hot! The tubs and rooms themselves are AWESOME.

The staff were so friendly and the cleanliness of the facility made for a great experience.

I went to the hot pools with my husband and we bought the romance package - a lot of the extra cost is for "candles" which are actually just little lights that look and flicker like candles
, so the big cost difference is from the flick of a light switch. Aside from that it was a great experience -- very clean and private, and a really nice view from the big door that you can open up into the scenery.

Wonderful!!
We were on our honeymoon and booked this at quite short notice for the full works ie. pamper pack and candles. While we did not get to enjoy the views as such the night sky was amazing!! Would definitely do this again. A great way to finish off a long day after doing the Doubtful Sound cruise.
