Skydiving over the Mackenzie Basin is something else. You've got Aoraki/Mt Cook out one side, the turquoise ribbon of Lake Pukaki below, and glaciers as far as you can see. It's the kind of aerial view that makes you realise just how big and wild the South Island actually is.
The dropzone sits right at Lake Pukaki Airport, which means you're in the thick of the landscape from the moment you arrive. Block out a solid 2-3 hours for the whole thing.
