We are getting what we paid for.
It is an old seasoned vehicle with squeeky brakes we had to get fixed. But otherwise it's fine.

Great price for a slightly older car.
But this does mean they come with wear and tear, e.g leaky boot and broken air conditioning.

I had a really bad experience with a Road Trip car (sub brand of Apex, but basically the same people/office).
We booked a car out of Auckland Airport for 4 April. On arrival we called for a pickup - and waited and waited. The pickup van from Explore More passed us 3 times. I called Apex again twice but each time was told to wait for 5-10 mins more.
40 mins later, the van came. We got to the Auckland Airport office where I tried to share my experience with the counter person. She was very rude, and insisted the van was out making its rounds and we were waiting at the wrong place.
I pointed out that:
1) We waited at the car rental pickup point as advised by Apex over the phone, and there was a Apex sign on the board.
2) Explore More's van was picking up people from the same point.
3) We were eventually picked up at the same point.
At this point, she started asking me, and I quote, "What do you want me to do about it?"
Thinking that this is our honeymoon and no point wasting time and starting off the vacation on a low note, we chose to not pursue the matter further and took the car. BAD DECISION - we should have walked out there and then.
