We prefer to visit places far from the bustling tourist scene – places that are beautiful, sometimes remote, usually peaceful, and more often than not enhanced by the local communities that host us.
Our supported bike tours are on dedicated cycle trails, or on quiet rural country roads in areas of the country that offer stunning scenery and historical interest. We provide full vehicle support, so that those who do not wish to cycle the full distances may hop on and off as desired. Our tour packages include all transport and dedicated guides, accommodation, and most meals. We use good quality accommodation based on double/twinshare rooms (mostly with en-suite facilities), and catering is wholesome and plentiful. Current tour options include:
Otago Rail Trail
Alps 2 Ocean Trail
West Coast Wilderness Trail
Around the Mountains Trail
Queenstown Lakes Trail
Roxburgh Gorge Trail
West Coast Wilderness Trail
Wild West Coast Trail
Marlborough Wine Trail
Tasman Great Taste Trail
Canterbury Backcountry Trail

We had a great time on the West Coast Tour. Organisation was extremely good with plenty of emails sent prior to the trip to remind us of dates. The trip was good mixture of biking and sightseeing breaking it up. Our guides were very good and we were left with the feeling that nothing was too much trouble. Accommodation was very good and meals were also very good.
This is the seond time we have used Puretrails and would certainly use them again. Already we have recommended them to others.

Congratulations PureTrails on an excellant, well planned and presented "Ride the Wild West" bike tour. This experience ticked all my boxes- fun, laughter, great company and beautiful scenery.
Our friendly tour guides were patient, considerate, well organised and very informative.
Accomodation was well chosen, clean and comfortable and the yummy food was plentiful with lots of extra healthy snacks and drinks.
I found our beautiful scenic ride (on quality bikes) not too difficult although sometimes challenging ... but we were given plenty of riding options..
Having already done the "Southern Lakes & Mountains" hike with Pure Trails I am already planning and looking forward to my next bike ride with a group of friends from Australia......and thank you also for helping the three Aussies girls celebrate a memorable Australia Day!!

I have now travelled twice with Pure Trails and have absolutely no hesitation in recommending them. I have done both trips on the South Island and am certainly planning to go back and do the North Island with them. A great family company, warm, friendly and they really know New Zealand. Great food, great palces to stay and great walks. It's the little things that they get right all the time : on my first trip we had been out on a longish trek and were all famished when we got back to our lodgings. Whilst we were out onbe of our lovely guides had heard that "local lobster/crayfish" were available and so had gone out in a boat and got some for us - what a treat!! On the most recent trip ( on Stuart Island) we had done a great walk but the last few kilkometres were on the road back to our lodgings. It started to rain and I was pretty tired and then over the hill came Sue in a van to pick us up. It hadn't been arranged but she just knew it would be a good thing to do. New Zealand is one of the best places to go for trekking and Pure Trails is a real gem. Also gotta go back and do one of their Rail trail tours. I've heard they are fantastic as well.
The Wild West Coast lived up to its name and the cycle tour with PureTrails took us into the wilds of the back country as well as along the coast road. The guides were knowledgable and experienced, overall an excellent bike tour.
Recently I rode the Otago Rail Trail. Top marks for their excellent support, organisation, accommodation, side tours included, meal venues chosen, great bikes. Magnificent scenery!
We thoroughly enjoyed our Pure Trails NZ Southern Lakes and Mountains experience and here are some of the reasons why:
> Accommodation was comfortable and we mostly stayed in scenic, beachside and historic places, not the normal tourist strip which gave us a homely and more local perspective.
> The walks were well paced, parts of the well known walks as well as those off the beaten track which gave us a good overview of the South Island.
> The catered food was fresh, wholesome and meal times were very enjoyable. Sue was a great cook.
> Our hosts Sue and John were friendly and accommodating creating a relaxed family-like atmosphere.
> The holiday was thoroughly planned and well paced and provided the flexibility to change plans to cater for the unforeseen or inclement weather.
> A perfect balance of healthy exercise and relaxation.
Thoroughly enjoyed our trip on the Otago Rail Trail with Pure Trails. Our accommodation was great as were all our meals. Sue did a great job as our guide. We would certainly recommend to our friends and would even contemplate doing the trail again.

As a regular rail trail rider here in Victoria I can honestly rate the Puretrails Central Otago Rail trail tour very highly. Everything was made so easy for us to just mount our bikes and enjoy the ride. All accommodation was of a high standard, the food was delicious, the bikes were excellent with good gearing. The 'extra' activities also added to the quality of the experience, especially the Curling at Nazeby - what a hoot. Any moderately experienced rider would find this tour within their capabilities. Liz
