Being an experienced rider I detest riding establishments but this one was exceptional.
Stunning scenery and superb match of horse to rider - highly recommended.

We recently spent 2 wonderfull weeks in NZ and River Valley Lodge & Stables was the highlight of a country of highlights!
The location is off the beaten track.... but don't worry, take your time because it is all worth it.
We stayed in our camper the night before our horse trek, next to the rushing river and awoke as the sun started to creep over the valleys edge.
We availed of the 2hr beginners horse trek. Huge appreciation goes to Lizzy and her colleagues. The horses are exceptionaly well trained and very easy to manage even for a beginner.
One word for the scenery on view....... Wow!
We also enjoyed a massage in the spa (highly recommended) and had access to the hot-tub.
All staff were friendly and attentive and as we arrived went above and beyond providing a treat on our over-night.
I don't want to sound too gushing, the prices are on the higher side, however the staff and location deliver good value for your buck.
We honestly couldnt fault our stay.

my horse was called Turk and seemed to like going at a snail's pace but other than that very enjoyable! :)
