  • I was dubious about going on a horse trek as I am an experienced rider and I thought I would be bored, and my partner has only ever walked a horse...

ONCE, and I thought he would kill himself!! Well I had the most AMAZING time, galloping along the beach was wonderful and the other half, well he trotted and he cantered and he LOVED every minute of it and never once looked like he was nervous. The horses where superb and Clare looked after us very well and was a pleasure to spend the time with.

  • Bill and I are both experienced riders and our quest to see some of the Bay of Plenty on horse back proved a wonderful exercise.

We galloped along the beach, up hills and along mud flats. We travelled through water half way up the horses' bellies. We saw a part of the country we could only view on horseback.

  • I've been on many horse treks around New Zealand and this is by far my favourite.

Great horses to suit any level of experience, friendly and helpful guides and fantastic scenery. I always recommend Briars to friends as I know they will have a great time.

  • I dragged along a nervous crew for a trek on my birthday, of the 6 of us, only 2 had ridden before and felt confident - so we were a very inexperienced mixed bunch.

The guides were brilliant, they immediately made everyone feel at ease with their confidence and ability. By the end of it we were all cantering (or something that resembled cantering) and the smiles were so big they lasted for days. The horses were beautiful and obviously really well looked after. I would highly recommend Briars - the scenery is gorgeous and the experience is wonderful.

  • Wow, what a fantastic hour and a half trek, we live in such a beautiful country and the trek gave me a friendly reminder of just that.

Incredible views, farmland, deer, little piglets, waterfalls, the beautiful jade greens of the Kaituna River, this trek ticked every box. We trotted, cantered and had lots of laughs, the two guides that took us on our trek were fantastic, gave clear instructions and ensured we were all well looked after! We will be back for another trek very soon, perhaps a longer one next time!

Thanks so much Briar and Team.

  • My two daughters are horse mad and we were very lucky to come across Briar and the absolutely gorgeous setting at O'Hara's farm.

My girls were immediately under expert hands from both Briar and Nat, helping to catch the horses, tack them and then ride. We visited three times in two weeks and this has definitely been a highlight of their time in NZ. I recommend this for anyone wanting to get in the saddle in NZ.

  • Awesome time.

Briar took time to make our little girl feel comfortable( and me) as we are very un- horse- savvy! Was definately worth it- we had a buzz going for the whole day :)

  • Our ship HMAS WARRAMUNGA had the pleasure of experiencing a great day of horse riding, which was enjoyed immensely by some of the Officers and crew and was followed up by a very nice home made lunch and

Archery and other Weapons. Thanks to Briar and the team.

  • Well oiled operation, yet didn't overlook the basic yet necessary details for safety and comfort.

Very friendly staff. Nicola from Canada was our instructor/guide. She was awesome, and sharing the same sense of humour was a bonus (and interest in our wildlife). Having not ridden for 30 odd years I was delighted to be matched with the perfect horse, aptly named 'Gorgeous', and she was. Thank you again Briar and Nicola.
