  • Great spot and nice owner.

There was water acces and a port a loo.

There is plenty of space but only limited even surface. Some had to park their campers on the incline.

The free camping place on the street has two outdoor showers :)

  • Lovely place with an amazing view over the sea.

The landlord lady was very kind and welcoming. We walked along the sea - tide was out so walked at the rocky shore to the seal colonies. You walked very close to the animals.

We arrived January 4 around 4.30 pm and there was plenty of space.

  • No facilities but only $25 for the site not each, it’s essentially three small fields.

    Looks out onto the sea.

The seafood bbq place is across the road but opens at 10 and closes when it sells out (1.30 when we were there!) we went back to the sheep shearing show at the campsite and enjoyed it $15 adults $5 kids. Site is only 8mins from the whale watch office (loads of parking there)

  • This is such a good little find, we were looking to stay at the freedom camping spot down the road but it was already overflowing.

$25 for parking on a nice grassy area and having room to move around was worth it compared to the tight parking set up in the freedom camping zone.

  • Such a beautiful spot, right by the coast so you can hear the sea.

We visited just after Christmas in a 6 berth campervan and managed to get probably the last spot (arrived around 7pm). So stunning and only a two minute drive to Point Kean viewpoint and a walkway to the seal colony. Recommend you bring $25 cash per night to pay (if you haven’t booked elsewhere but we couldn’t work that out) and make sure to read the info sign on the gate to the house when you drive in.

  • Basically a sheep paddock, no facilities at all (no portaloo as someone else mentioned), no shade, but nicely grassed, across the road from a very rocky beach, 50m walk through the fence & across the

paddock to a bit of beach for swimming & a public toilet.

$25 night per vehicle, you need cash - there's apparently an online booking system but we couldn't get it to work without downloading & registering with yet another app (not really worth the hassle for 1 night!).

We arrived mid afternoon on a Saturday, fabulous weather but no food vans - the gelato van just packing up as we left (so don't rely on being able to buy anything once you're here).

  • What a fabulous find!!

A beautiful outlook across from the sea and cute food stalls selling everything including a glass of wine. Plenty to look at and a farm behind you. A great summer spot highly recommend.

  • Great spot with fantastic views.

It was 20NZD for the motorhome and well worth it as there were tables and benches to use and a nice grassy area. The free freedom camping spot (Armer's) just across the way is really small so we much preferred this. Easy access to the great walk around the point to the seal colony - there were pups when we were there - a true delight watching them play from afar. We were here late January.

  • The campsite has wonderful views, the only good thing you pay for.

It has no services whatsoever, and the owner is incredibly rude. He told us over the phone how to pay, leaving the money and our details in the cashier at the entrance. Then, at 6:30 a.m., he woke us up, banging on the campervan door in a rage because we hadn't paid. After telling him the money was in the cashier, and checking, he didn't even bother to apologize. People like that don't deserve such a beautiful place.

  • We absolutely loved this location.

Self Contained vehicles only! Very close to the BBQ Crayfish food truck. Also close to the seal colony walk. Beautiful scenery of the ocean and sheep! There were 3 of us and we just needed to pay $20 to stay the night. They also own a BnB for people who aren't too keen on camping. No power. No dump site. Picnic benches, water for dishes, and a porta loo. Only reason it's not a 10/10 is because the porta loo was a bit dirty and could use a good clean. But other than that amazing, classic Kiwi experience.

  • Great view from the campsite, directly at the sea.

It was very peaceful and quiet + lots of space. Very friendly owners as well.

However, theres only one port a loo and it could use a thorough clean. For that price there are better campsites available but its still great for one night.
